I'm a lover of history, all seasons, sewing and Incubus. I design costumes on the side for my old high school's theatre department, which is where I met my sexy man. About Mrs. Zebra

I Bid Thee Adieu. Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow. : wedding invitations providence stationery Dsc 00305 DSC_00305

There they are, in all their finished glory. I got really attached to these babies and it was hard for me to let them go. We’re 15 days past when we wanted to send them out into the world so we knew we had to get ’er done.

I packed them up ever-so-gently and brought them over to the post office. I had been researching busy times at the Post Office for weeks and planned my trip accordingly. Damn those places are always busy, aren’t they? I got lucky though, and with only two other people in the room I ever so sweetly smiled at the man behind the counter and said:

“I’m hoping to hand cancel my wedding invites.”

He responded by asking me, “Do they have to be hand canceled?”

“No, but I would like them to be.” (Another dazzling smile)

And he took pity on the girl with a third eye right in between her other two (Huge Zit!) and handed her the box to stuff her 155 invites in. S-U-C-C-E-S-S, that’s the way you spell success! In the end, if he gets frustrated or really didn’t feel bad about the mini tumor above my nose bridge and decides to run them through the machine, I won’t be sad about it. I was really in it for the experience.

As I pulled away from the parking lot, taking in the moment, amazed that they were finally finished, the most perfect song graced my ears.

I shit you not my friends, it was on the radio.

Na na na na, na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!

Yeah, I totally fixed the blemish in iPhoto. Vain.

I have a little case of empty nest syndrome, or shall I say, I have a little nest of empty case syndrome? Zeb and I are super excited to get something other than junk mail in our box. That’s what she said.

Congrats on getting the invites out.

Question: What is the benefit of having them hand canceled?

The day our invites were dropped in the mail was seriously one of the best days of my life. And no, I’m not forgetting about my wedding day.

@Miss Elephant: We got our first today and I was uuber excited to see them!

@mariewest: No benefit other than aesthetics. I love the vintage feel of it.

@Mrs. Husky: HAHAHAHA!

@mightywombat: Hand cancelled is that awesome old circle stamp over the stamp on the envelope. They don’t run the envelope through the machine so there is less noise on the outer envelope. Not totally necessary but fun all the same.

@totheislnds: They came back today. I’m definitely over the sadness! :0)
