When I saw this post by that cutie, Mrs. Earrings, I knew I’d stamp my blog-poseur passport in a big way. See, my favorite antique haunts are always stocked with luggage. I’ve long wanted a piece but could never find an excuse. Bonus for me? The most common color for these items, other than tan, is the perfect, subdued slate-blue that we’re using in our wedding schemes.
During a recent jaunt to my favorite antique mall, I became so rapt with this petite carry-on that I got foggy-headed. The exterior was in beautiful condition, and I purchased it in a triumphant haze. Then I got it home and really looked at the interior, which will be what people see when they place cards inside. Uhhh…
Yikes! I could say this beauty was in a “well-loved” condition, but let’s be straight—homegirl is busted.
No fear. With some ribbon, a flower to cover up staining, plus my trusty glue gun, and we made it to here:
Chica got herself a ladylike makeover. I’m actually not sold on the idea of using it, as it’s a little more “rustic” than any other element of our wedding so far. Since we’re using a bit of wrought iron, I might go with the big ol’ birdcage approach.
And hey, if we don’t use it, I’ll still pack up the guestbook, pens, etc. and lug them to the reception hall IN the suitcase. I WILL USE IT, okay? Tell Mr. PD, so he won’t look at me like I’m crazy for bringing junk treasures home.
What are you doing for a card box?
