With our guests riled up from cocktail hour, they headed to the top floor. The sun had set, and you could clearly see the New York City skyline in the distance. Tealight candles and amber lighting warmed the room. Mr. Lobster and I were introduced as an officially married couple as we led ourselves onto the dance floor for our first dance. I held it (the tears) together during the pre-ceremony and ceremony. As luck would have it, I burst into tears on the dance floor. Was it because I’m such a bad dancer? Maybe.

Mostly, I was overwhelmed with emotion from the whole day and finally let it all go as I heard our band play the first dance song, Always and Forever by Luther Vandross.
Mr. Lobster and I barely took time to practice our dance except for a couple spins. He didn’t want to take a class or choreograph anything. I think it made for memorable video. But our photographers are so faboo that you can’t tell how bad we are from these photos.
We even look like it might be fun. I probably just told a joke or something.
And because all wedding things must come with a flourish, here was our only practiced move, the dip. I think my face says “Please don’t drop me. My hair might get mussed.”
Finally, our friends and family joined us on the dance floor to kick off the rest of the night!
If you missed part of this lobster tale…
