Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. …And Wedding Night Flats!

January 25th, 2011 @ 12:29 pm by Mrs. Jaguar

Alternate blog title: In case I CAN’T walk in those heels.

No, you’re not crazy—we really did just talk about shoes here yesterday. And yes, I did show you the cute bargain wedding shoes I bought. So why are we here again?

Realistically, I knew that even if I did try my best to find the most comfortable pair of heels within my price-range, they would still hurt. They’d be fine at first, but inevitably, as always happens, they’d start to rub. Or pinch. Or ache. Or worse, do all of those at the same time. Because of that, having a back up pair of shoes was always in the cards for me.

At first I figured I could just wear a pair of thongs or sandals I already owned: my gown is long, so it wouldn’t be all that noticeable. But the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to keep things new and special for the wedding day, so I set myself a challenge with even more rules in mind. If I bought a second pair of shoes:

  • They had to be flats.
  • They had to be of a similar colour to my heels for the day.
  • They had to have a peep-toe & some kind of detail on the front.
  • They had to be the same price, or less, than the first pair of heels.

I’ll admit: the last bullet point was my main focus. Having two pairs of shoes for the wedding day is a tiny bit extravagant, so if I could keep my budget of $50 for both pairs? I’d be one happy camper with no guilt. Unfortunately, all of the gorgeous ivory wedding-ish flat shoes with brooch details were out of my price range—or worse, they were in it, but didn’t ship internationally to Australia. (Boo!)

I’d almost given up on the search, but then was walking around yet another discount department store today…when I found them.

Silver, flat peep-toes with cute ruffle detail - love them!

…And Wedding Night Flats! : wedding shoes sydney 22 2

They’re both cute & comfortable for tired, tired feet at the reception.

And the price? $19—under budget once again!

I was so pleased to find these today, especially when I wasn’t really looking for them—you gotta love when that happens! So all up, I ended up with two pairs of wedding shoes for a grand total of $44 Aussie dollars. Not bad, if I do say so myself. I love the ruffly flats almost as much as the glittery heels, and I guarantee I’ll be wearing these babies again.

Were you a multi-shoed bride?

Both of your shoes are too cute! Having two shoes is a fantastic idea. Heels for the va-va-voom factor, and flats for when you’re ready to kick back and relax.

I love these! Do you mind sharing the store you bought them at? If they sell/ship to the US, I might just consider getting them too! Thanks so much! They’re going to be perfect for your dancing feet!

Aaahh! The thought of wearing heels all day makes me cringe already. So, yeah, I’m gonna have two pairs too. And on a budget, too. And I’m just starting the hunt…

Great finds for you tho!

Thanks ladies! I love them both, they make me WAY more happy than they should. ;)

@FutureMrsBondo: I bought these at a budget store in Sydney, called Big W. They’re a chain, similar to your K-Mart over there, hence the super cheap pricetag! I looked on their website (you can purchase certain things online) but they don’t stock clothing or footwear there unfortunately. I do recommend checking out Miss Brooch’s recent post on flats - she found a pair from ‘Endless’ that look almost identical!

@Mrs. Husky: It’s SO hard to not wear them now. Trying to keep them (mostly) shiny and new, but man.. they’d be perfect since it’s summer at the moment.

@Miss Sydney: I know, it’s so hit & miss with Big W. I got them a size smaller than I normally wear (but they’re pretty soft, so not too worried about that) because they were the ONLY pair there and I thought they’d be perfect.. but then I found a few more yesterday out in South-West Sydney’s store while I was visiting a friend. Well worth scouring the shelves.. doesn’t hurt for the price, anyway! :)
