Mrs. Eggs Benedict, Seattle Age and Occupation: 29, Attorney Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Attorney Engagement Date: December 5, 2009 Wedding Date: February 2011 Venue: IslandWood About Me: I'm a Northwest girl who spends my time goofing around with Mr. Eggs Benedict and our dog, hiking, traveling, drinking wine and planning a wedding that will showcase the best of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer. I also love photography, beating Mr. Eggs Bene at Mario Kart, and watching the most ridiculous natural disaster flicks you can think of (seriously, how can you deny the awesomeness that is The Core or 2012?? About Mrs. Eggs Benedict

Honestly, I have no idea. I talked earlier about how I want them all to find a knee-length black dress, and I’m going to give them pashminas as part of their gifts to keep them warm and add a little color to their outfits. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that this was going to be a slightly harder task than I envisioned. I really just want them to have dresses that they like and that they will wear again, and I love the look of non-matching bridesmaids’ dresses.

But, it turns out that my girls wanted a little bit more direction than that. So I sent them a long e-mail complete with links to lots of different dresses, including these from J.Crew:

I’m really excited to see what they decide to get, and hopefully my non-matching-black-dresses vision will end up coming together similar to these weddings:

How are you helping your bridesmaids choose dresses? Or did you just pick for them?

i went shopping w/each girl individually to help them pick a dress. It was much easier than everyone going together and the different dresses looked great! ( I did red)

I have the same vision with the different black dresses and so far 2 of my bridesmaids have purchased their dresses (my 2 sisters). I really wanted them to get something they would wear again as well, what’s the point otherwise. We went shopping together because they wanted my “approval” on their dresses, this worked out well because now I have links of what they have purchased to send to the other 2 bridesmaids as a reference point. 3 of the 4 will be wearing the same shoes too.

i called my girls and asked them what the wanted their dress to look like and how much they could spend. they both wanted red, and super cheap. so i told them if they trusted me ill find the dresses for them. i found red and black dresses on walmart for 10 bucks each. i sent them pictures, they liked them so i ordered them. we agreed that ill pay for the dress since it was so cheap and then they would buy the rest of their own stuff.

I asked my girls to do the same thing, but with grey. Two of the three of them found something great, but my little sister is slacking. :)

I’m bringing them all together as a group to the bridal salon this Sunday. I had a dress picked out bu then I got my dress last weekend and I hate how it looks next to my dress so I’m going to scrap it and start over. So I’m going to let them choose from 3.@Miss Sloth: My sister is being to worst - she’s the only one giving me a hard time about wanting a long dress vs. the short dresses I like. :(

My asked my bridemaids to get a knee length flowy dresses in the blush pink family, but I have been getting a ton of questions about them so I think I am going to gather some links and have them pick from 10 dresses or so :/

All of my girls were very indecisive about everything so I ended up just picking a dress and letting them wear their hair & shoes the way they wanted.

that’s what i’m doing!!! I told them to pick knee length black dresses (not tea length since that shortens everyone…and not mini since i don’t want them to look like ho’s), in a formal material (i.e. not cotton), and that’s it! i told them to go crazy - sequins, feathers, whatever - i just want their personalities to shine. Oh and there’s 6 of them….this could be interesting :)

@Margarita: Genius! I was trying to think of a way to communicate this exact look to my girls!

We decided to mix and match dresses. I went with my gals just to serve as a deciding vote b/c there are 8 of them! I figured it would be hard for everyone to find dresses they liked, but really they all like the same styles!

I would have preferred if they all went and picked out their own dresses but all 3 wanted to go the traditional route and wear the same dress. So I took 1 shopping while I was home and send the other 2 links and photos to get feedback and they all agreed so they’ve ordered them. I wish I weren’t getting married in the summer, I totally would have done black dresses.

I’m having non-matching dresses. They all narrowed down the choices to a few they liked, and then ask me for the final opinion.

My cousins were slacking so when I found 2 matching purple dresses I snatched them. My other BMs found their own. Give them a deadline to have them by so you don’t keep stressing!

Mine wore black with blue pashminas. The dresses were pretty unmatched and I haven’t seen the pro photos yet to actually get a good sense of how it all went together. But it certainly made me feel good to see them all in dresses they loved and felt good in and that looked great on them individually. I know it matters more to other people, but that was enough for me.
