About Mrs. Bacon

I Bacon Your Pardon

January 31st, 2011 @ 4:42 pm by Mrs. Bacon

I am so sorry everyone. I have been blogging here for a while, going on and on and on about this wedding we’re planning, and I haven’t really even told you about the big picture, the theme. The Bacons are planning a fun, contemporary, kinda quirky evening ceremony followed by an equally fun, somewhat Chicagoan, semi-formal dinner party with (hopefully!) tons of dancing and hilarity: a concept that we’re calling “modern whimsy.” And the colors? Crimson, charcoal, and cream.

I guess it’s kind of hard to visualize…Maybe this will help?

We’re having a little bit of trouble staying totally on “theme” since the idea is pretty loose, but we really want to make sure that we have the kind of event where our guests are laughing and enjoying themselves from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave. We were told once that weddings are “solemn and somber” events, but we beg to differ.

So now you know what we’re trying to plan. What do you think?

You’re totally right, solemn and somber are for funerals! Have fun! I so love the balloons - I’m racking my brains trying to figure out where I can shoehorn them into our day! And those macaroons are wicked. You have to have them!

I love it! DD had a similar look but with fuschia & spring green and it was a big hit.

AWESOME!!! that looks like a great theme and it sounds like your wedding will be a ton of fun :) save “solemn and somber” for funerals, whoever said that needs to realize that love = happy, not sad.

p.s. now your idea to wear TOMS makes SO much more sense! i liked it before, and now i love it!

as the only Sept ‘11 blogger, i have been trying to follow you - and then i got on today and saw we have picked the same colors! are you a 9-10-11 bride also? i feel like you my “inspiration bee”!

we tied our scheme together by using touches of a modern damask pattern. not a lot, just here and there so it’s not too stuffy!

thank you for taking the time to share with us! i love reading your posts!
