About Miss Oatmeal

If Only…

January 31st, 2011 @ 2:49 pm by Miss Oatmeal

…we were having a wedding that would allow us to incorporate something like this:

If Only… :  wedding decor fresno Oat1 oat1

{Tec Petaja Photography via Once Wed }

If Only… :  wedding decor fresno Oat2 oat2

{Claire Eliza Photography via 100 Layer Cake}

This would so not go well with our wedding theme, but maybe someone else can take advantage of this amazing inspiration! So I thought I’d share the pretty pictures with the ‘bee.

What do you think about this?

I found the first pic when I was planning my wedding. I loved the candles around the altar!!

It’s pretty, but it also brings to mind a house that’s been TP’d.

It’s a pretty picture but it also reminds me of sheets that were being torn for rags…

Are those fabric strips? Sorry, bad eyes. Very pretty?

Ooh, I like that it’s a luscious take on ribbon backdrops!

I think that second one is gorgeous! The first one just makes me nervous. Just looking at the picture– like I am afraid all that fabric is about to catch on fire and jump through the computer and burn me

Oooh, could you imagine it with colored ribbons/fabric?! Thanks for the inspiration!

Love the candles in the first one! So pretty! Have to say, though, the ribbons look a little like a bunch of linguini hanging up there. Not that that’s a bad thing….yum, linguini….

Seriously, I do not get the appeal. Is it supposed to represent something or is it just hanging fabric?

I’m kind of unsure about what’s happening in the first one….it looks like pasta

The paper is so beautiful. I love the first photo. The candle light is so romantic!

I think the second design is executed better than the first. The first picture makes me nervous with the candles so close to the fabric? Paper? What is that even?

I think that this could be a great jumping off point for someone interested in draped fabrics as an alternative to a typical arbour.

The first one looks a little like a ritual is about to happen, but i do like the candles.

the second one is definitely more my speed, (but personally, I’m glad you are not going this route :) )

@ktisthatbees: You mean like a wedding? Haha. I get what you mean, more of a dark ritual than a wedding.

It’s certainly not my taste. But I still like you Miss Oatmeal. (In fact, you’re one of my favorite bees, shhh, don’t tell the others)

I love love love the second picture. I am thinking about incorporating it into our July wedding. I’ve been looking for some sort of unique altar idea, and this may be the one. Now to see how the fiance feels about it! :)

I love it and hate it at the same time. Guess I’m a little indecisive today :)

Hi there! Love this post, and finding new fabulous wedding blogs. Just want to note that the bottom photograph is not mine - I was part of that 100 Layer Cake post, but mine was another featured. You may want to look in that vendors portfolio to check out who the lovely artist is. :)
