Finds at the VV Boutique

February 1st, 2011 @ 5:11 pm by Mrs. Cinnamon Bun

Cinnamon Buns and I were out running errands the other day and our travels took us near a Value Village, a prolific chain of second-hand stores. It was super-easy to convince him to stop (yay!), just to see what we’d find. I was hoping for a cake stand. Well, look what we found:

A stand and dome for $9.99, new in box! I don’t have one with a dome yet, so we decided to add it to our collection. My favourite find though, was this:

What is that? Three classic books? Something seems a little funny though…

It’s some sort of box/container thing! I had to have it—how perfect is it for a booky wedding?! I’m not entirely sure what I’ll do with it though. For $5.99 though, I wasn’t passing it up. I tried putting the jar holding our 65 ribbon wands in it:

I don’t think that is the best use for it; the ribbon wants to obscure the books. I keep thinking it’d be great for programs for the ceremony… only we aren’t sure if we’re doing programs yet. It’ll definitely get used, though!

Any suggestions on what it could be?

Would it work as a program holder?

Both are very cool, I <3 thrift shopping! What about if you put some kind of plastic liner in the “books” to protect it and had a flower arrangement in it??

You could always use the book-thing for a card box/holder, instead of using the traditional bird cage! Good Luck!

Maybe you could put a fun “booky” picture in the inside of you and Mr. Cinnamon Buns (using it as a frame), put some pens in the bottom and leave it on your guest book table with a cute little poem! It’s a neat find however you choose to use it :)

I would say card holder! I think that’d be fun!

I love the idea a PP suggested with the flowers inside. I can see the photo now! A card box or program holder would be far more sensible though. It’s so cool!

I think using the books to hold your programs would be the best. It’d also be cool to use for flowers, but I think it’s more functional as a program holder.

Oh, I love the idea of putting programs in them. Programs are so fun too, I definitely think they are a “worthy” project to undertake at a wedding. Awesome finds!

Hm… Cinnamon Bun’s favourite suggestion so far is as putting flowers in it. I think that is a great idea… if we don’t do programs! :)
@sammie_trejo: It would be good for cards… but I already have a birdcage! Whoops. I bought that very early on in planning, when I didn’t know what I’d do with it.

The book box is awesome!! I love the idea of programs, but it would also look great with flowers, or a collage of succulents.
