Mrs. Bacon, Chicago Age and Occupation: 26, Digital Advertising Manager Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, IT Client Services Engagement Date: June 17, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Ravenswood Billboard Factory About Me: I'm a Midwestern girl that can't seem to commit to staying in one place for too long and is constantly daydreaming about my next adventure. I am an aspiring foodie with a weak spot for the unusual and I love semi-reality food television. My other loves easily include laughing as a form of exercise, a book that I can't put down, summer baseball games, espresso with whipped cream, couch potato days and nights with the ridiculous Mr. Bacon, and our two kitties, Lincoln and Sawyer. We're planning a faux-destination wedding for 150 of our closest friends and family in the city we've both adopted as home that has a modern, yet whimsical twist and as many personal touches as we can manage.
About Mrs. Bacon

We picked out bridesmaids’ dresses way back in August before I even had a dress because MOH Bacon and I get very little time to spend together face to face. So we had our two hours at the bridal salon and whipped through dresses faster than you’d believe. With only 25 minutes left in the appointment after trying on wedding dresses, we “bee”-lined it to the colorful-dress section and tossed anything that fit our criteria into the dressing room.

The criteria that my four bridesmaids agreed on:

  • No satin
  • No strapless (Some of my ladies have trouble keeping the girls in place.)
  • A-line, since it’s universally flattering
  • No butt bows or puffy sleeves
  • Cocktail/knee length
  • Not too fussy, AKA Keep It Simple Stupid
  • Comes in my preferred shade of red
  • “But, we’re really not that picky; we’re happy to wear whatever Miss Bacon wants.” <– I LOVE them!!

We’d already asked for inspiration from the ladies, which helped in making a decision without the whole crew there. So in we went with over twenty dresses, and we plowed through them before finding the ones that would work best for everyone AND still let the MOH stand out from the crowd. I wish I had pictures of us in them since we both tried them on over our jeans to speed things up and looked totally ridiculous.

MOH Bacon will the rockin’ the one-shoulder look:

The Bacon bridesmaids will be wearing the scoop-neck version in the same shade of red:

I really love these dresses and kind of want one of my own. They’re made of Thai silk, will be altered to hit knee length on each lady, and have pockets! I do love pockets…

After we settled on these dresses, MOH Bacon ordered her dress, and the saleslady gave us little stud earrings for each of the maids to have as a thank you for ordering with them. How cute is that? I’m telling you, “Minnesota nice” is totally legit!

Did anyone else try on dresses with your ladies to see how dresses would look on lots of body types?

Very nice! I went with my two BMs to try on a dress at Anthropologie last week…. They both tried on the same size, even though there is a 7″ height difference between them! Finding one dress that suits both may be a challenge.

@rmw61111: They are from Rush’s in Minneapolis, but the designer is Dessy from their Alfred Sung collection

My girls have very different silhouettes, but somehow we managed to find a WTOO dress that looks incredible on all of them (and on me too; yes, I tried it on as well, lol). I think I’m going to start calling it the Magic Dress.
