I just want to start this post off by saying that these are some of my favorite, favorite photos from the whole wedding. They may also reflect that this was one of my favorite moments from the whole day. We were never really on the fence about a first look—in traditional Jewish weddings, you see each other before the ceremony anyway, and there is no cocktail hour after the ceremony, since it is before, so we figured, why not get some of the photos out of the way so we wouldn’t have to miss the party?
I have to say, I am so so happy that we did.
WARNING: Kissy pictures ahead. You’ve been warned.
We wrapped up my bridal portraits, and Mr. HC arrived at the Rose Garden.

Look at his face - priceless! Every time I look at these photos, I am immediately transported back to that moment and that feeling of seeing each other for the first time ON OUR WEDDING DAY!
Surprise!
In this moment, despite being surrounded by our paparazzi, I remember feeling there was only the two of us in the whole world—and this was our moment.
This is one of my, or maybe my most, favorite photo from the whole day.

Hermit Crab wedding tip #9:
Do a first look. If you are considering one at all, and it does not make any conflict between anyone or any tradition, plan for a first look. We had a moment that I’m not sure could have been recreated later in the day—it was just us, enjoying the beginning of our wedding day.

I am stuggling with this decision so much!! I really want to have the “moment” of seeing my groom when I walk down the aisle, and vice versa, but I can’t bear the thought of missing the cocktail hour. Especially as we only get one hour on the terrace with the amazing view of the city, and then the rest of the party is inside or in the garden (no view) and basically we booked this place for that terrace and that view, and we would miss almost all of it if we stopped for pictures.
But still….
You didn’t feel like it lessened the drama of the ceremony? Your words are making me lean towards doing a first look…

@RomaBride: I do not feel like it lessened the drama of the ceremony one bit - his face still lit up when he saw me - everyone stood up and was smiling big and I got the chills all over!
