When it comes to wedding planning in the Elephant household, it’s mainly completed by me. Don’t get me wrong, Mr. E is excited about getting married. We have made the big decisions together, like the venue, photographer, and the tasting menu. He’s just not worried about the little details. On the other hand, there’s me, where the details have helped me to pass the time during the past 22 months.
Mr. E is extremely helpful whenever I ask for help (which I’m sure I will be asking for more help as the countdown continues to fly by), and has taken on some projects on his own. If it’s something involving tools, it’s right up his ally. If there is any creative aspect, like painting our wedding tree or designing elements in Photoshop or Illustrator, he’s all over that.

I know that there are some grooms/brides out there that love to be a part of every planning detail for the wedding, just like there are some who would rather do as little planning as possible. Where does (or did) your fiancé fall in that spectrum? Were they big on planning all of the wedding aspects, helpful here and there, or was it a struggle for you to get their help?
my hubby to be was included in a few major things but everything else it’s what ever you want babe. tell me when and where and i’ll be there. he smiles and nods any time i ask for his opinion (agreement with me) and loves me when i have a melt down and hands me a glass of wine. lucky women we are!
OMG! My FI is so excited and is involved with almost every decision that is being made. i am so lucky. The really awesome part about it is that we have the same vision in mind. We agree on EVERYTHING… so far. LOL! But we’re still in the early stages of the process, so who knows, he might lose interest after a few months.
I was the main planner, but I felt bad making all the decisions, so I usually presented options to Mr. S.
It worked for us, because I got to plan, which I love, but I felt like it wasn’t all about me because he got to have input. If he felt really strongly about something like not having Starfish Boutenierres, then he got veto power.

Just wanted to say that I love that he’s draped in Aggie gear. Gig ‘em! (All the way from California).
Honestly, I’m doing almost everything but that’s because I’m much more creative than my Fiance is… that is for sure! I don’t make any final decisions without asking for his approval and I’m doing most everything with his mom so he loves that we are very close! I’m very much okay with him not doing much of anything… I get all his support!
Mine was also all about the big details, but leaves the little ones for me. Except cake. He was all about scheduling and going to as many cake tastings as possible!

my mr. tries to say he doesn’t care what we do, then when a decision is about to be made he suddenly has an opinion:)
I think my guy would help more if he knew specifically what needs to be done. (We made a big list and posted it on the fridge for this reason.)
Asking him to handle things he is naturally interested in has worked well. There’s just so much stuff!
My FI is only involving himself in the details that are major (but they are also the ones that we can’t compromise on) like the budget, and venue, color scheme, bridal party size
other than that I can do what I want within reason.
I like the colors he chose (blk/wht/grn) but I don’t want them for our wedding
I wanted a small bridal party (1 on each side) he wants 5!
I don’t want to spend a lot and I don’t want it outdoors… you see where I’m going with this.
I think I have driven him crazy in our search for a venue so hopefully when we pick one, he might give up after that lol
I was pretty shocked to see how much my FI had to say about different aspects of the wedding. I thought it was going to be, “Ok honey, whatever you want,” which is true on some things. Then, out of no where he’ll throw me for a loop with something that’s important to him.
I involved him as necessary and as much as he desired. He was way into tasting food and cake (duh), but actually took the reins with a lot of our technical sound stuff and hotel-dealings for the weekend. He was a good deputy!
