I am an aspiring foodie with a weak spot for the unusual and I love semi-reality food television. We're planning a faux-destination wedding for 150 of our closest friends and family in the city we've both adopted as home that has a modern, yet whimsical twist and as many personal touches as we can manage.

Hamming it Up

February 3rd, 2011 @ 12:29 pm by Mrs. Bacon

We are total hams. If there is a camera around, you can pretty much guarantee that we’ll be in front of it…all the time. I am sure that people we’ve met once have at least a handful of pictures of us from the one day we hung out. So when the Baconator (the fiance formerly known as Mr. Bacon) brought up the idea of a photo booth, I was totally on board.

I love the idea of a nostalgic booth with instant print outs, but I was super worried that it was going to cost big bucks, so I started checking out all of the amazing inspiration there is out there for a faux-to booth. Look at these adorable pics!!

But really, I’m only kinda crafty. Trying to put together an adorable backdrop for photos complete with a functional frame? Waaaaay out of my league! Besides, hiring an additional photographer to man the booth would cost some moolah, too. So I hunkered down and started doing my research. OK, I wasn’t quite as thorough as Miss Giraffe, but I started emailing as many vendors as possible to figure out who could fit in our budget.

Then I went to my first bridal show and saw a few of the photo vendors in action, signed up for their mailing lists, and within a week had a bunch of offers for coupons in my email! Suddenly, we were getting $300 off, plus double prints for favors, a guestbook, and props? Oh yes, just tell me where to sign, please!!

As I’ve mentioned before, the Baconator only had three requests, two of which were a photo booth and a Storm Trooper helmet for said photo booth. When I realized I could get brand spankin’ new props with my booth for just a few extra bucks, I was in! I love when people have silly photos with Santa hats and mustaches, so I knew we had to have these additions to our big day.

Are you doing a photo booth? Will it be DIY, or are you going to outsource it?

Once again I’m telling you, we were separated at birth or something. It’s kind of uncanny. (Please ignore the fact we look nothing alike. It’s funnier that way.) ;)

@Miss Lox: Yep, we are pretty much ridiculous. Maybe I should get a sneak peek at your next post so that we aren’t doing this every week? LOL.

I love fauxto booths! I think my photographer does something like this, but I need the motivation to make cute backdrops.

We’re definitely doing a fauxtobooth. I like the way more people can jump into the picture and the more props that can be added to the mix. We’re just going to DIY ours with a backdrop and a picture set up on a timer. Hopefully my brother can set it up so his computer will cycle through the pictures being taken, so guests can have a mini-slideshow.

We didn’t do one, but I so love the photos that always come out of them!
