Let Them Eat (Cup)Cake!

The cake vs. cupcakes battle is over.

The winner: cupcakes!!!

Cupcakes just made sense for the Cheetah wedding. We love cupcakes, they’re cheaper, and since dessert is being served away from the dinner tables, it made more sense to serve something that didn’t require a plate and fork (don’t worry, there will be plenty of napkins!). Plus, cupcakes will look great on our sweets table and we can get them is lots of scrumptious flavors! It was hard narrowing down the flavors for our wedding from the dozens of options on our baker’s menu, but after two (yes, two) tastings with our baker I think we have it figured out.

Introducing the final flavors:

  • Coconut
  • Red Velvet
  • Cosmopolitan (vanilla-lime cake with a hint of vodka, topped with cranberry-lime butter cream frosting)
  • Rice Crispy Treat (vanilla-rice crispy cake with marshmallow-butter cream frosting, topped with rice crispies)
  • Meyer Lemon

What? No chocolate? Tragedy! (Kidding! mostly.)
I love cupcakes. But we’re having cake and pie at our wedding, because I am excited about having a fancy pretty cake, and the FI likes pie.

We are doing CUPCAKES too!! I just love idea of having loads of options! We are having the following:
Spice cake with maple butter cream
Boston Creme pie cupcake
White cake with Baileys Silk Mouse frosting
Chocolate with Raspberry butter cream
and
Peanut butter and Jelly cupcake - which will be a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter cream frosting and a strawberry preserve filling!

I hardly ever eat my cake at weddings - so we are doing self-serve cupcake/candy bar table with take out boxes for anyone who wants to take their cupcake home with them!

And now I’m hungry!

We are doing cupcakes in lieu of a grooms cake. Are you not doing a bride’s cake at all? I would love to know because I have actually considered not having one.

Yummy! We are having individual chocolate lava cakes with vanilla ice cream. We really didn’t want a cake, so this was a good compromise for us. Nothing but ooey-gooey chocolate goodness!

We are in the midst of the cupcake vs. cake dilemma as well :) We have tastings scheduled for mid-February, and I am SO excited!

I love cupcakes! I think we’re going to have some in addition to the cake because they’re just too cute!

I would love to just have cupcakes, but the FI wants to do the whole cake cutting experience. I am trying to convince him to have a faux cake with one “real” layer to cut and then just doing cupcakes.

We’re having pies. Our discussion(s) about desserts went like this: “Ooooooh! Let’s have pie! And cupcakes! And a candy buffet! Hey, and maybe a dessert buffet with other goodies!” We - okay, “I” - got a little carried away. We’re actually having a number of different kinds of pies, and one small cake, which will be a birthday cake because our wedding day is my future mother-in-law’s birthday.

Feeling very inspired by all those cupcake flavours - particulary like the very elegant Bride and Groom cakes which I’m going to make for my next wedding show. My love of cake has led me to making vintage mismatched china cake stands which you can see at http://www.letthemeatcake.co.uk - enjoy and of course eat cake!
