We’ll never know what it was like to be a guest at our wedding. Because of this, I get a little self-conscious about what it was like from the other side. Think random worry flashes that there weren’t enough drinks, dancing, food, or fun. That, maybe, it wasn’t enough. Partly because of those random worries, pictures of people having fun on the dance floor mean a lot to me. Even when I was there to see these moments in person.

The smallest rager. His momma says he loves dancing.
Hooked another one! They were officially too much cute.
I’ve said a few times that awesome photo booth inevitably competes head-to-head with awesome dance floor. So it goes, especially since people will also just sit, drink, and chat instead of doing either one. I shall call that awesome lounging.
There were some early adapters to the dance floor, which is always a relief. It didn’t hit critical mass until everyone boozed themselves up some more, and dancing started while it was still light out. So, I was extra-proud of the earlies.
Clearly, according to my friend, Stacy, it is dangerous out there.
My friend, Joey, the worm.
As his girlfriend said, “OH MY GOD, the THUMBS.”
Cousin-in-law and FIL. Speaking of early adapters; in 2008, these two, me, and her husband were the first to hit the dance floor at BIL’s wedding.
Matt looks like my husband. We all joke about this a lot. So, naturally, he stole my husband’s glasses and took me out to the dance floor. Pic by Kevin Wong/Right Angle Images.

Chris, above, was our DJ. He’s not like “DJ SoundblasterFlash” or anything, he’s just Chris, and he’s one of our dearest pals. As outlined in this post, we went with handpicked and on-the-laptop for music. It worked out swimmingly, pre-, during, and post-wedding. We could easily rehearse particulars with him on a whim, and if we changed our minds and emailed him suddenly with something new, it wasn’t a big deal. It was comforting to have someone we loved announcing us and our bridal party, many of whom he knew, into the room. A few friends hung out with him around the DJ table and helped with the music selection, and it all seemed very democratic, for lack of a better word.
In case you’re considering doing something similar with a friend DJ, Chris and his girlfriend were friends first. They got spots at dinner at a proper 10-person table. That table just happened to be nearest to the sound/DJ spot and Chris happened to be keeping tabs on time.
Our list was heavily ’80s and included Centerfold, a song I’d dance to in bars with these girls after work:
“Come On, Eileen,” a tried-and-true crowd-pleaser showed up, and Lady Gaga made an appearance, too. That’s what this is:

Soul Train line? Move over, folks. Oh, and note below how haggard my do is getting. (Right Angle Images)

And here is where you can see the red-wine stain on my ass. It is officially a party. (Right Angle Images)
At several points in your day, you should look like this: ecstatic and completely unaware that you look blissfully ridonk.
Next up, they let us eat cake. Nilla-wafer cheesecake, to be exact.
