Blam!

February 4th, 2011 @ 10:36 am by Mrs. Lox

Have you ever just hit a wedding wall?

Blam! : wedding baltimore diy Lox12 lox1

I figure a wedding wall has to be prettier than a plain old brick wall. I mean, right? (source)

I mean like, *blam!* into the wall. There are tons of things I know I need to do. I’ve made spreadsheets of them. I’ve quantified them. I’ve even blogged about them. And I know exactly how to acheive most of them. However, I seem to have crashed right into this inconvenient wall that is preventing me from doing any of them.

I’m unsure whether I should blame the holidays (when this all started) or just general inertia. All I know is that I am acheiving absolutely nothing that needs to be done for this wedding. I’ve found new things to buy for it (more on that later). I’ve had no issue talking about it. But less than four months out from the big event, here I am…sitting on my butt being useless.

I have, however, had absolutely no problem with scrapbooking, making cards, or (back when this all began) doing tasks like holiday baking and card sending. So lazy I am not. But wedding lazy, I am!

So I ask again, have you ever hit a wedding wall?

I have!!! I hit one hard during the holidays, like around Christmas and New Year’s Eve. I didn’t talk about the wedding much to family, didn’t bug Mr. B with our to do list, or do ANY projects. I’ve recently been revived, though and it’s great! I think what helped me was HELP FROM OTHERS! My mom got really involved (and nosey) about my to do list and we started knocking out projects left and right! You’ll get back into it! Trust me!

I’m still a bit bruised from hitting my wall recently. I can’t get past my save-the-dates. My wall unfortunately, is completely of my own making. I’m one of those people who thinks nothing is going to get done right if I don’t do it myself. Therefore, I refuse to let anyone help. I know, I know….I need to unclench a bit.

Word. I hear ya. I’m somewhere in between doing nothing and being productive, so let me know if you find the solution. Miss Brooch makes a good point though, I think getting others involved will help move things right along.

I am very much in a planning lull. I blame the cold weather. I think having a plan (with all the necessary spread sheets) is definitely a good start to getting out of the rut.

I’m right there with you. I’ve decided to work on my invitations tomorrow. That should help me bust right through that wall!

I have… Aside from the newsletters for my girls and booking the last of my vendors I come home from work and I read a book or watch tv like my brain needs a wedding day escape except the only thing I do all day is google the things I need and bookmark the pages. LOL

I’m staring at my wall right now. It’s tough since the wedding is 7 months out, and I feel like it’s too early to do some projects. Hi wall, I hate you.

Same thing happened to me. I was all ready to get everything done last fall shortly after we had booked our venue in early September and then i had ordered part of the save the dates and then we found our “dream house” and we had to move so with the exception of our engagement party in early November, I did nothing wedding related for a solid 3 months.

It wasn’t until I went a bridal expo with my mom that it hit me again that I need to book my other vendors, find a dress, and mail out my save the dates. As it happened, I booked my JP, DJ, and photographer the last few weeks and found and ordered my dress (yay!). Save the dates will finally be going out in the mail next week. We’re also in the process of booking a honeymoon.

I think sometimes that we get so caught up in what’s going on and everyone is always asking about it that when it comes time to do things, we just don’t want to deal as it constantly around us and you get sick of it from time to time.

I think with any project sometimes you lose the enthusiasm… at least for a little while. The bloom is off the rose, as they say. But new projects? No problem! The rose is fine and dandy there.

I found the same thing about four months out.. that it just felt like the excitement had worn off a bit, and really there was nothing that was really THAT urgent (total lies), and that I should just sit on my couch and watch endless hours of TLC.

I did nothing wedding related from Thanksgiving to Christmas. I wasn’t even reading WB! (Don’t worry, folks, I spent the week after Christmas catching up!) You just need to decompress and take a breather, I’m sure you’ll be up to your old wedding wonder ways soon!

I just moved states so I don’t really know anyone to ask to help with wedding DIY projects. My solution: I buy all the materials, try one or two (just to make sure they’re do-able), then pack it up in a suitcase to take with me when I visit family back home. Then when I’m visiting, I make sure to slyly bring them out and recruit help. Most of the time people are totally willing to help, especially because its a couple nights every 3-4 months. Works out perfectly. And we don’t have to transport all the projects at the end and worry about crushing them. :)

Yes, I absolutely hit the wedding wall! But, I must say, your wedding wall is much prettier than mine was. ;)
