Udderly in Love…

February 7th, 2011 @ 9:08 am by Mrs. Pancakes

About six months ago, Mr. Pancakes went to a wedding and was OBSESSED with the homemade dark chocolate chip cookies with infused milk shooters. He talked about them FOR WEEKS! While I am not sure it’s something that we’ll do, I can certainly see the appeal. The only reason we wouldn’t do it is because I don’t like chocolate chip cookies or milk. :( I didn’t grow up in the States, so they’re not really comfort foods for me…but there are so many great ways to do milk and cookies at a wedding.

Milk & Cookie Bar: You could have all sorts of cookies and flavors of milk for your guests to choose from. You could do peanut butter, oatmeal, Oreos, etc., and then have jugs of strawberry, chocolate, skim, and whole milk! It would be so easy to do and really budget friendly.

Passed around on a tray: The tiny shot glasses of milk with the individual cookies present really well. They look great and may help with quantity control. You could even do it with Oreos. I heart Oreos with milk! However, according to Mr. Pancakes, “They just make you feel bad when you have like 15.” While that may be the (one) guy’s perspective, keep in mind that even cookies can be classy! It’s all in the presentation.

As favors: Who wouldn’t love to go home with a little bag of cookies and some milk? Also, how adorable are these mini ol’ school glass milk bottles?

Nontraditional: Reach for the stars, so to speak. Why do traditional chocolate chip cookies at all??

So I have to admit that I have a soft spot for all things tiny. I pretty much love anything wedding related, but love it even more if it can be made tiny. I’ve been known to spend hours at Paper Presentation swooning over miniature envelopes and tiny luggage tags! I have no idea what I would do with a 1 x 2 inch envelope, but they were SOOO cute!!

Has anyone had a cookies-and-milk bar or been to a wedding with one? Have other people been served cookies with milk shooters? Do you agree with Mr. P that they’re a great idea?

One of the cutest wedding receptions I have ever went to had a cookie bar. The bride and groom weren’t cake people so they decided to split a cookie instead of doing a cake cutting. Then the caterers wheeled out two huge tables covered in trays of different cookies. They were served with milk and coffee. It was such a good idea.

I think the milk shooters are adorable, and so perfect with cookies. I’d never do it though, because milk and I don’t get along anymore. :( It ties my stomach in knots, and I don’t want that feeling at my wedding.

Love this! So super cute.
@Miss Cinnamon Bun: My entire family is no longer friends with dairy products, so it’s also out for my wedding.

We are having that for our late night snack! It looks so good. I keep wondering what to have for our favors though. A dessert spread is so expensive!

Mmmm. Looks good even at 9 in the morning! We had a milk and cookies bar and it was a huge hit-totally demolished by the end of the night.

We had passed milk shooters and chocolate chip cookies at our wedding towards the end of the night. Everyone loved them! They looked very similar to the second pic you posted.

We didn’t do cookies and milk, but since we had a winter wedding we had a cookie and hot cocoa bar. Everyone LOVED it. Instead of ordering cookies we had our friends/family help us make their favorite kinds of cookies so there were lots of different kinds, home made form scratch and made with LOTS of love :)

These photos are adorable, and I hadn’t heard of a milk-and-cookie bar before.

That said… I’m with you. I don’t really care for chocolate-chip cookies and I don’t really like milk. The combination is not comfort food to me, even though I did grow up in the US. (Then again, I grew up allergic to milk and several of the ingredients in cookies.)

Miss Cinnamon Bun brings up a good point, though: several of my friends have become lactose-intolerant.

But… the photos are incredibly cute! And I know a lot of cookie-fiends.

I’m actually doing a cookie buffet/bar! Our venue nixed the idea of bringing in our own milk bottles with a small bag of cookies attached to it. BUT they were completely on board for our cookie buffet/bar and they will be providing milk!

Friends and family have offered to help with the cookie making process :)
