Mrs. Brooch's Picture
Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.

Our Wedding Room Reveal!

February 7th, 2011 @ 5:04 pm by Mrs. Brooch

Remember my Wedding Wands project?

Well, I made a few more with pink ribbon and love the way the two colors look together!

I loved Miss. Sloth’s post “Wedding Sh*t Corner,” because I could totally relate! We have a wedding room displaying all the fruits of our labor and it’s nice to see everything we’ve accomplished in one space!

Take a look inside!

Mama Brooch set up this send-off station with a little table from the basement that we painted white. We aren’t sure the table will be used exactly like this at the wedding (because the bubbles will probably be outside for after the ceremony, and not used for the send off), but it will definitely get used one way or another.

I’m still working on our signage, but I’m leaning toward Old Script font in black on this pink paper.

What do you think?

Our Wedding Room Reveal! : wedding arlington decor Imag05702 IMAG05702

Did I mention Mama Brooch tied ALL of the ribbons on these bubbles?

She said she never wants to tie another bow again!

Let’s not forget about the vintage mirror we painted white!

Isn’t it cute with our fabric-lined frames nearby?

P.S. We just realized the top left corner is weird! We’re going to fix that before the wedding!

One of my favorite details are our chalkboard signs! Even though they are still blank at this point, I love them! We truly transformed these from old, wooden, hollow frames into functional, garden-vintage-inspired beauties!

We’re going to wait until we write on the chalkboards to attach them to the frames, but I think we’ll use this one in front of our fauxtobooth! Did you have a fauxtobooth sign? What did it say?

Oh yeah, and have you seen our collection of green vintage vases? There are actually a lot more than you see in this picture! We started collecting these way before we got the idea to use milk vases. I think we’ll put them on the mantels around our venue for a little pop of my favorite color: green!

This wreath is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, but it apparently doesn’t photograph very well. :(

We may get another one (or two) that fits in a little better, but for now it hangs in our wedding room!

Mama Brooch even added a few butterflies on it to give it that special touch!

We have our mock dessert table in this room too—more on that very soon!

Do you have a wedding room? Do you feel accomplished when you look at everything you’ve done and gathered in it?

I <3 this idea! All our wedding crap is spread over the house… sometimes I get bits out and put them together on a table just to check everything looks ok but it would be great to have a space to lay them out in like this.

Yay ribbon wands! I can’t wait to see pictures of them in action! All our stuff is actually stored in our living room, behind our couch. Our couch isn’t up against a wall because it is a big open-plan room, so we’ve actually got our old coffee table hiding behind there helping to organize stuff. I try to keep it all in rubbermaid tubs for neatness’ sake. I wish we had a guest room to put all the stuff in, so it could be out and I could see it!

Wow!! You are on a roll. I always feel so ENVIOUS of those who are getting married near home. I’m in NY, marrying in TX, it’s so so hard. Just the thought of doing anything and then packaging and sending home makes me want to break out in hives. How soon before your wedding did you do the bubbles? I’ve mentioned how much I love your chalkboards, I can’t wait to see it all come together. You and your family are very crafty :)

Lovely stuff! I just feel like the butterflies on your fabric-covered frames (love!) and chalkboard sign are upside down…

We definitely have a growing wedding area… but it’s kind of scattered around the house. I wish we could have a room for it!
