Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!

Back Away from the Shoe Store

February 9th, 2011 @ 12:26 pm by Mrs. Jaguar

I bet you all thought I was done talking about wedding shoes, didn’t you? I had my heels and I had my flats—what more could a girl want?

*pause for giant tumbleweed to roll on by*

Apparently, a different pair of shoes.

I was out shopping with my Maid of Honour, Miss K, when we decided to hit the shoe stores. We have a bit of a thing where we’ll go into shoe departments and try on the most obnoxious and hideous shoes in the place and then attempt to walk in them. It’s been going on for months—we’ve done it in so many different stores (and countries!) that it’s hard to remember how it all began. It’s mighty fun though; I do recommend it.

Anyway, amidst all the terrifying shoes and dizzying heel heights, I pulled out a pair of heels in black that caught my eye. Peep-toe, walkable heel, simple yet cute detail…looking good! I tried the shoe on in a 9 (too big) and an 8 (too small) before finding out that they stocked an 8.5 (just right!). It was cute, it looked good, but it was black. I didn’t need black shoes. That was that—until I realised that the shoes also came in charcoal grey.

What’s that, you say?

Why Miss Jaguar, aren’t your colours ivory, grey & sage green? Why yes, yes they are! Funny you should mention that. You guys, the grey shade was perfect. It matched the girls’ bridesmaid dresses almost exactly. Check them out for yourself:

Oh, grey shoes – you taunt me so. But that’s not it: there’s even more adorable detail to these shoes. LOOK AT THE BOWS:

I couldn’t help it – they were PERFECT. They’re now hiding out in a safe location away from a certain male in the household, and I can’t wait to whip them out from under my wedding dress to show them off.

Did you ever become a two (or three!) shoe bride?

I’m having trouble finding just ONE pair - darn it for tall women that are the same height as their man!

I do love heels, but I can’t see towering over him by three (or more) inches on the big day just to get to wear cute choes.

Sigh… You’re so lucky!

those are so adorable! They’re really comfy? I’m looking for a dance shoe since my heels are 4 inchers and these are so cute!

Those are amazing shoes… I have a slight (huge) addiction to shoes so I have slightly dreaded the shoe shopping experience because I know I can only get at most 2 pairs of shoes…

Love! I’m having a hard time finding *one* pair, let alone 3. Well actually i found the right pair, but I can’t fathom paying the sticker price for that pair. I’m currently in an ebay bidding war for that pair. We’ll see how it goes :)

@micks_mandee: Oh I know that feeling! ;) Luckily all of mine have been CHEAP. (These ones were from Spendless aka Payless shoes.) Good luck!

@ktisthatbees: Yep.. and there may even be more to come. *hides*

@Mrs. Trail Mix: They aren’t velvet, but they change colour a little like velvet does - it’s like a satiny sheen?

@Mrs. Starfish: Yes! The bow killed me. I had to have them. I want to wear them NOW.

Oh wow, those are adorable! I was a 3 shoe bride, but only because we changed our colors so I had to get new (non-purple) reception shoes!

@Rebecca: I hear you! I’m not that much shorter than Mr. Jag, but I feel taller (& slimmer, weirdly) when I’m in heels. And let’s face it, I’ll be back in the flats for most of the reception, I guarantee it! :D

@arenyth: They’re not bad as far as stiletto heels go - they’re a bit of a wider foot, so they’ll be less ‘pinchy’. The heel isn’t bad either. Although I need to spend some time in them just standing … so my praise may turn soon.
