No Longer Allowed to Look

February 9th, 2011 @ 11:19 am by Mrs. Eggs Benedict

And this is why Mr. EB is no longer letting me look at any type of weather forecast for our wedding day.

Are you freaking kidding me with this after we’ve had so many days of gorgeous blue sky in the past couple of weeks (or at the very least, cloudy days but no rain)?

Why yes, that does say, “Snow changing to rain” for our wedding day. And scattered flurries for the day before. This is not the first time (or the last time) that I will be praying to whatever god wants to listen that the weather forecast is wrong 10 days out.

Don’t worry. I’m breathing deeply and completely aware that nothing I do will affect the weather at all. (I’m not that self-involved—I swear.) No matter what, I know it will be fine.

It will be fine.

I’m just going to go do some yoga and repeat that to myself a few more times.

They really can’t be accurate 10 days away.. & imagine the beautiful pictures you could have if you do get some flurries?!

It will. It’s way too far away and even if it’s tomorrow the weather people aren’t right 75% of the time!
And regardless it will be beautiful and if you have awesome photog the pictures will be awesome.

Oh dear-I live in Seattle and did the same thing leading up to my August wedding. This forcast will likely change every day up to your wedding. Do yourself a favor and stop looking! Figure out your backup plan for if it does rain and think about fun ways to take pics inside or buy a really cute umbrella. Not worth stressing quite yet! I will do a little Seattle sun dance for you though :)

No matter what the weather, your day will be beautiful. Snow makes for gorgeous pictures. And think of the fun boots and umbrella pics you could get in the rain! That would be perfect for a Seattle wedding!

They are never accurate 10 days away! I just got back from Arizona where they were predicting crazy weather 10 days out like storms and crazy winds. Well, day of was sunny and not windy.

Also, this past weekend, one forecast said we were about to get the worst storm ever to hit TN this week and another said cloudy with no snow. Amazing. Now, they are somewhere in between with us getting a few inches.

I would like to be a weather person because seriously, you can just guess and have as good of a chance.

I stalked about 4 weather sites the 2 weeks leading up to our wedding & it changed from day to day! Even the day of the wedding it changed & definitely not in my favor. We were to have an outside ceremony & an inside reception.. The report said the rain would hold off until after dark. Fine with me, the ceremony was set to start at 5, the rain can do whatever it wants once we’re inside. Wouldn’t you know the sky opened up at 4:45?!

Everything was moved inside & after a brief freak out & trying my hardest not to ruin my make up, I let go & the phrase for the night became “I’m so over it.” I couldn’t control the weather, so I had to let go & be done with it. I regret fretting so much about the weather & I regret that my husband worried all day about how I was. Don’t do that to yourself. It’s not worth it.

And even though the wedding wasn’t what I planned, it was still everything I wanted! Looking at the pictures of the ceremony inside, I can’t help but think that this is the way it should have been from the beginning. Everything was beautiful & we still got married. Because, after all, isn’t that what it’s all about?

Everything will work out & will be beautiful!

You are aware that YOU LIVE IN SEATTLE? :)
It will be beautiful, and people will almost expect it to rain.

Sending you good vibes–but as everyone here says–it will all be fine, your guests will make it and your pics will look great no matter the weather!

Two and a half weeks ago, they said another foot of snow was forecast for last week. It was all rain. It can change. Either way, there’s nothing you can do about it, so try to think on the bright side. You won’t have to worry about sweating in your wedding dress like this July bride, am I right? Buy a nice plush white scarf and gloves set to wrap around you. I have one for general use and its sparkly!

If this helps, 9 days out before my wedding, the forecast was 80 degrees and sunny with 0% chance of rain…And 9 days later, it POURED for the entire day! My point? Weather predictions are complete BS, don’t trust a word they say!

Agreed with above. The prediction on our day in October was rain, rain, rain and COLD. Well, it didn’t rain a drop and was mostly sunny and 63. However it was SUPER windy, but we were ok with that! The weather will change 50billion times between now and then. My fingers are crossed for you!

Look outside today and see how beautiful the city is today.

Then remember that weather forecasts mean absolutely nothing until just a few days before. Your wedding is still several weeks away! Things will be fine :)

The weather stressed me out way too much before the wedding, luckily it ended up being beautiful.

No matter how the weather is your going to have an amazing day! Think of how cute Mrs. Trail Mix photos are with the umbrella!

Trust me, the accuracy at 10 days out is ridic. I had a total meltdown @ the 10 day mark because the forecast said rain, and guess what? It didn’t rain. As a matter of fact, it was a sunny 75 degrees with not a cloud in the sky. We couldn;t have asked for better weather! Try not to look at least until the 3-5 day forecast is up!

Dont look! I did the exact same thing as you and totally freaked out because it predicted thunderstorms right up until 3 days before the wedding. Our wedding day turned out perfectly sunny! Praying hard that yours turns out the same way hun.

The weather can change so much in these next days…and your amazing photographer will totally be able to make your photos rock whatever weather comes your way. I love snowy photos (it’s like the couple are in a snowglobe! sooooo romantic), I love rainy photos (how fun are umbrellas as props?), I love overcast photos (best light to shoot in!), and I love sunny photos (umm…duh). Praying you’ll have the sun!

I’m not going to jinx you by saying that it definitely won’t rain but the weather is usually opposite of what’s predicted. Instead of crossing my fingers for you and praying the weather will be nice for you, I will give up all hope. I feel that Seattle, and the people who live here, likes to be contrary and only give you what you want once you stop caring. So I’ll be nice and apathetic for you. :)

@shannag: Hahaha - I think this is my favorite sentiment. :) It’s actually what I’m really trying to do now - I’ve been telling myself all along that it will rain and it will be fine. And it will be! It’s more that it’s just funny all the beautiful days we’ve had recently and then the shock of seeing potential snow flurries! Rain I can deal with - snow is harder just b/c it’ll make it really hard for people to get around the city and the island.

But as all of you have pointed out, there’s nothing I can do about it, so I am letting it go now!
