About Ms. Sloth

Sloth’s #1 Beauty Tip

February 10th, 2011 @ 6:38 pm by Ms. Sloth

I am not the type to give out beauty tips. I sort of know how to apply makeup, but not any better than anyone else, and I’m painfully lazy, so I usually only put on the bare minimum. But this morning, I realized something, something very important to looking my best on my wedding day. And I need to share.

See, I started a new job this week, and things have been CRAY-ZAY. I’m not complaining—it’s been tons of fun so far, but it’s been busy busy busy! I’ve been working long hours and even though I’m exhausted at night, my mind is usually so active that I can’t sleep very well.

And the result of that is that, for the past few days, I looked like this:

Sloth's #1 Beauty Tip : wedding beauty philadelphia 20140 1 20140-1

Source (Ten points to anyone who can identify what movie this pic is from).

Okay, okay, I exaggerate. But seriously, my skin was dull, my eyes were bloodshot, and a bucket of concealer wouldn’t have hidden the dark circles under my eyes. I was haggard.

Last night, finally, finally, I got home at a reasonable hour and slept for a full eight hours. And this morning, I looked like this:

Sloth's #1 Beauty Tip : wedding beauty philadelphia 628747 628747

Well… as close to this as a 35 year-old woman can look, anyway.

My point is: GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP. That is my first, best and only wedding day beauty tip.

A good night’s sleep did wonders for me, so I’m going to do everything possible to ensure that I sleep well the night before the wedding. It’s going to be hard with all of the stress and excitement, but I’m going to try my damnedest, so that I can be as fresh-faced as possible for the wedding.

Do you look raggedy when you don’t sleep well for a few days? How are you going to ensure a good night’s sleep the night before your wedding?

Boo! That is totally from Princess Bride. (The way she says “putrescence” is amazing.)

“Boo! Boo! So bow to the Queen of Rubbish!” One of the best movies of all time. ;) I was just noticing today that I’m getting dark circles under my eyes from poor sleep habits this past week. Definitely going to make a good night’s rest a priority!

That picture is not even a challenge. Might as well have put Inigo Montoya up there. ;)

Okay, I totally didn’t know it was from the Princess Bride (and yes, I grew up in the 80s). All I could think of was the witch scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and got my brain trapped there.

@Mrs. Spaniel: I thought the same thing, but knew it wasn’t quite right, yet I couldn’t shake it.

The Princess Bridge….Mawwiage!

…and you do NOT look 35, Mrs. Sloth. Is this really true because you hide it soooo well.

BOOO Rubbish Filth! Princess Bride YAY! That’s like my favorite character in the whole film after Indigo Montoya.

And sleep does wonders, as does lots of water and excercise. My skin always looks better and I always sleep much sounder after a good round of cardio.

Rubbish! Filth! Slime! Muck!
Oh man, that lady used to scare me when I was little, even though I did LOVE that movie. I always covered my face with my hands when the camera got really close in on her.
And yes- sleep does do wonders.

Love that movie. But great tip. I think we all could do with a bit more sleep.

Yes! When I don’t get enough sleep not only do I look haggard/half dead, but everything is harder to deal with — I become a ball of cry and irritation.

I swore I was going to marry Westley (aka. dread Pirate Roberts) when I was growing up! That didn’t quite pan out.

good tip but just so you know it’s practically impossible to get a good night’s sleep the night before your wedding and the night after! the excitement of everything keeps every bride awake.
