Forever Uncle Jesse

Forever Uncle Jesse : wedding music pleasanton Jesse01

I’ve mentioned before that as a kid, my favorite show was Full House. I recall one time, after watching an episode, I turned to my mom and asked, “Mom, how come you don’t hug and kiss me like Mr. Tanner does with his daughters? And you don’t say ‘I love you’ every night before I go to bed?” My mom answered, “Turn off the TV and practice your violin.”

So between homework and violin practice, I’d sneak a little time to watch Full House. My favorite character was Stephanie Tanner because we were similar in age.

Aside from the episode where Stephanie almost married her Asian friend, my first recollection of a “wedding” was Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky’s wedding, featuring Jesse & The Ripper’s song, Forever.

Now that I found this song again, I so badly want to include it in our wedding.

What do you think, hive? Cheesy or meaningful?

I definitely think you should go for it! I think it’s a sweet and meaningful song– and that’s exactly the kind of music that makes a wedding special! Most people who weren’t fans of the show probably won’t even realize it’s origin and those who do remember will certainly enjoy the nostalgia. I know that I will certainly be incorporating it into my own wedding!

I think it’s a totally lovely song. Some people may not know it from Full House b/c there is a version by the beach boys…

Also - that video made me think of the other current bee (can’t for the life of me remember who now…) who wanted a choir to come out and sing during the ceremony - that’s pretty awesome!

It is cheesy, yes, but also such a great song! If you want to include it, do it! I loved the Full House days.

I totally thought about using this for our first dance but ultimately thought it was too cheesy. I LOVE the song though. I totally swoon to it when it comes on my itunes.

I think it’s a great idea as long as you don’t copy Becky’s outfit. Yikes!

My husband and I were actually on a flight with John Stamos on our honeymoon. We used it as the perfect excuse to ask for a picture with him. Best decision ever.

@countrygalker - *swoon*.. John Stamos is like fine wine, he gets better with age.

@Miss Pain au Chocolat: …Awesome.

I knew exactly what song/episode you’re talking about without even having to watch your video. I loved Full House! I’m so with you! Didn’t Uncle J sing that song for Nikki and Alex, also, after they were born?

Anyway! Go for it! Seriously!

I love this idea… mostly because it’s one of my favorite songs ever.

It was originally written and recorded by Dennis Wilson–the little brother of Beach Boys Brian and Carl.

John Stamos has been out loud about being a big fan of the BB, so I’m sure that’s why he chose to perform it on the show (along with many other BB songs, if my Full House memory serves me correctly).

So I say go for it–if you feel cheesey b/c it’s a song from full house, just grab Dennis Wilson’s version (smirking silently inside as you picture Uncle Jessie, lol!). The song is beautiful no matter who sings it.
