The Search for the Perfect Polish

February 11th, 2011 @ 10:43 am by Mrs. Ostrich

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and… I believe in miracles.” - Audrey Hepburn

It’s almost the weekend, bees!

Which means it’s almost mani-pedi time!

I love spending an hour or so of a lazy Sunday afternoon painting my nails…and catching up on all of my CW shows {GG and OTH - the best!}

The classic whisper pinks of Essie’s Ballet Slippers, the chic mink gray of OPI’s You Don’t Know Jacques, the glam of Essie’s Lollipop, the offbeat ocean blue of Chanel’s Riva…I love ’em all. :)

But I need your help: it’s time for me to narrow down my picks for my wedding day polish, so I can take pretty pretty pictures like this:

Are you ready???

Here are a few of the beauties on my love list:

The Search for the Perfect Polish : wedding beauty hawaii Essie S1 Essie-S

{source}

1. Essie’s Tart Deco - With coral being one of our favorite colors of our sunset wedding palette, this shade is one of my all time favorite shades. Perfectly peachy, it looks lovely on both hands and feet!

2. Chanel’s Inattendu: A lighter, dreamier peach. I like to think of it as the pale peach version of my classic pale pink polishes. Isn’t it sweet?? And the OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy looks lovely too!

{some enchanted evening by Deborah Lippmann}

3. Deborah Lippmann’s Some Enchanted Evening: I’m beyond head over heels in love with this new rose gold inspired color. Rose gold + sparkly = amazing!

I’ll be testing these out over the next month to see which one I like best, but I’d love your thoughts too—which color do you love the  most?

AND, let’s share the nail polish love—I’m always on the lookout for new nail polish colors to try out! And more importantly…what shade are you picking for your wedding day?

Chanel’s Inattendu has my vote! OPI also has a color called “Second Honeymoon” that’s one of my all-time faves.

I’m thinking OPI Lincoln Park After Dark (classic!) or Black Cherry Chutney for nails and toes. Definitely going to go dark - more often than not, that’s what I’m wearing, so why change it?

I pick #3. That color looks awesome. As for what my nails were painted, they weren’t. We went whitewater rafting the day before which kills nail polish. However, my toes were painted a fun blue color with little, white flowers.

I have OPI’s Burlesque series “Simmer and Shimmer” on my toes right now. They’re really sparkly like the Deborah Lippmann one you posted.

Finally! I have been waiting for months for somene to do a nail polish post. It seems to be an often overlooked aspect to the wedding wardrobe. I adore Lilacism, but to match you color pallette, I think the Tarte Deco will really pop in photos, kind of how red tends to pop in photos.

What about the pale peach for your fingers and #3 for your toes? I think keeping it classic and subtle on top is a good move, but then you can go nuts with your toes, and the colors don’t clash so it’s appropriate. Excited to see the final result!

Can we see “One Enchanted Evening” on?? I like Chanel “Inattendu” too.

Re: tart deco… now I have to buy a bottle - enabler! I love my Essie “Chubby Cheeks” but it’s probably too intense of a coral… sometimes even looks orange-red, to be considered with these shades.

these are all gorgeous picks– i’m leaning towards rose gold glitter polish on my own day, so i’m totally biased! http://shorl.com/selujogripipa

I wish I could wear nail polish, and not have it chip right away! I’m a nail polish clutz, and tend to mess it up within 20 minutes of leaving the salon. My nails just suck all around-they chip and break easily. I’ll probably go with classic clear or get a set done.

My vote is for the tart deco!

I wore OPI “Pinking of You” on my fingers and OPI Peru Ruby on my toes.

I lurrrve that last one! If I can find a bottle here, I might use it for my toes. I’m thinking just a plain French manicure for my fingers, I never really wear polish on them. I’d even be happy with someone else shaping my nails, and just putting clear polish on for me.

Ooooh I love nail polish! OPI Hearts & Tarts or Bubble Bath will probably be wedding nails, but I’ve got Russian Navy on now. For toes, I love either Chick Flick Cherry or a really good french. :D

I really like the Deborah Lippmann one! I am considering using colors from the Sephora OPI Urban Ballerina line…Leotard Optional on my toesies and The Way Tutu His Heart on my fingers.

I’m addicted to nail polish, of all colours haha. Mostly lilacy pinks and corals and jades though (: I was thinking of Panda-Monium Pink by OPI but now I’m considering Some Enchanted Evening!
