I also love photography, beating Mr. Eggs Bene at Mario Kart, and watching the most ridiculous natural disaster flicks you can think of (seriously, how can you deny the awesomeness that is The Core or 2012?? That's right, you can't). We are planning our weekend wedding adventure at an environmental educational center, and I can't wait for the fun to begin!
About Mrs. Eggs Benedict

Falling off the Fitness Wagon

February 12th, 2011 @ 1:50 pm by Mrs. Eggs Benedict

Miss Eggs Benedict note: I wrote this post back in the beginning of January to help me stay on track for the final push to the wedding. But I still wanted to share this to let you know what I’ve been doing these last two months before the wedding with regards to fitness and my health.

Oops. It’s been 11 days since my last workout. And it’s only seven weeks until our wedding—the hazards of a wedding not too far after Christmas!

But, I’ve made a couple of decisions that should help me shed a few more pounds before the wedding. I know that it won’t be a lot, but my main goal at this point is toning and feeling good about myself, and I think these will help me reach those two goals.

1. I’m not drinking alcohol before the week of the wedding except for a couple of pre-defined instances. I’m allowed to have a beer during the Seahawks game because it’s likely their last game of the season. (Though how awesome would it be if a team that went 7–9 ended up winning a game in the playoffs?) I’m also allowed to have a beer on Monday night when Oregon plays for the National Championship. (Go Ducks!) And I’m allowed to drink during my bachelorette party, which will be taking place in a couple of weeks. The only other exception I’m making is if we’re tasting wines for the wedding. Then I’m allowed to taste those (but only sips)!

2. Get back on the P90X bandwagon. I’ve really liked these workouts and, while I haven’t seen huge results in terms of the scale (probably because I didn’t follow their eating plan), I am feeling better and seeing differences in how my clothes fit. So if I can keep it up for the next six or seven weeks, I think I’ll be happy with the results.

3. Finally, I’m trying really hard to not buy any junk food so that I don’t have the excuse to eat it. If I want a snack I should be eating vegetables, not chips. We don’t usually have lots of sugary things or other junk food in the house, but over Christmas we ended up with all kinds of cookies and candy, and I ate more of it than I should have. So, if it’s not in the house, then I won’t be tempted to eat it!

As I said before, I know that I won’t be losing drastic amounts of weight before the wedding given how close I am, and I’m OK with that. Mr. EB loves me for who I am, and who I am includes the way that I look. But I do want to feel good about how I look on my wedding day, and when I look back at photos I don’t want to be focused on my imperfections. So, I’ll do what I can right now and really enjoy the wine at the wedding!

Kudos to you for being able to give up alcohol! I’m not trying to lose weight, but I know that if I gave up beer, I’d easily lose my Buddha belly. Actually, that’s a lie. I’ve done that before and just replaced my calories with Mac and Cheese. Sigh.

Mr. Biscuit and I don’t have much junk food in the house and sometimes it makes me CRAZY. I purposely don’t buy it, then I get this nutso craving and make odd concoctions with whatever is in the house to satisfy my sweet tooth. I won’t even elaborate on what because I’m afraid I’d end up on one of those TLC shows.

I am following P90X too, but not the food plan too, haha. I’m in the same boat too, with changes in my clothes and not the scale.
I am thinking that I will do another round starting in April, and I’ll try to follow the food plan this time, see how that goes!
Good luck!

@Miss Biscuit:
We don’t keep much junk around either, and I woke up this morning to find that my fiance had made some sort of concoction that involved melting cheese into pretzels in a frying pan and putting it between two tortillas. Apparently it didn’t work out too well, because drunk as he was he left almost the whole thing out on the counter.

I’m not trying to lose any weight or anything either, and while I was tempted to give up or greatly reduce the wine and beer consumption, I decided to put that off until the 3 weeks or so before the wedding when it will serve the dual bonus purpose of keeping me from making germy decisions/weakening my immune system. As far as P90x goes, it seems like that’s a really muscle building workout, so it probably won’t affect the scale much either way. That’s part of what’s tempting about it for me.

I like your attitude, EB (you can duu eet)! I’m trying to avoid temptation by keeping junk food out of the house, too. White Cheddar Cheez-its are my Achilles Heel, and I can easily devour a box in one sitting.

I’ve totally stopped working out, too! After the holidays, I’ve just been sooo lazy (and stressed with wedding details) to workout consistently! I promised myself to start again at the 1 month mark. (Not holding my breath though!) :p Good luck with your last few weeks!

I’ll feel your pain!! I live in Wisconsin and with the weather we have been dealing with it has been pretty rough for me to keep on my work out guideline! (running outside in -10 windchill is just not okay)

I highly recommend a program called “Couch to 5K” or 10k, etc. I started about a year ago. It is a brilliant running program that TEACHES you how to run. I was never a runner, and I now can’t get enough!

Good luck to all you brides!

Keep it up! I lost 10lbs with the P90X workout. I would have to say I had really nice arms and legs after the series. I didn’t even follow the diet plan! I just ate a little less than I normally do.

I also just finished the Insanity workout series. If you want to lose weight faster, this would be the better route to go. It is really intense though! I thought P90X was hard… The warm up is pretty tough too! =P

Sometimes when I feel hungry (during non meal hours) I drink water to satisfy it. That helped me a lot.

Good luck!

@KBrannan - I swear by the Couch to 5K program! I hated to run and now I do 3 miles 3-4 times a week. Not only did I lose weight, I also have a much stronger core.

Not buying junk food is the best way to lose weight. Seriously, so easy. Just don’t buy it. (For some reason this is a hard rule to follow once you are off the wedding wagon and have no reason to be in tip top shape anymore!)

I wanna attempt P90X. I applaud your efforts!

I think these are all great steps! I am pretty sure the scale isn’t going to be tipping at the end of the month, so I might be kicking desserts out of my life for all of March… We’ll see how it goes!
