About Mrs. Pain au Chocolat

Not content with visiting just one bridal store, BM R and I spent the rest of the day (about eight hours—we’re hardcore!) shopping in Suburban Square in Ardmore. We found new stores and old favorites with good deals. We stumbled upon a Priscilla of Boston store and had to scope out the gowns. It is a mere two blocks from the salon where we started the day—I had no clue it was nearby, as I uncharacteristically did not research the area ahead of time!

We didn’t have an appointment, but the salon let us wander. The store was divided up by the labels, so browsing was easy. My favorite racks were Vineyard, Reverie, and many from the whimsical and romantic Melissa Sweet collection. The in-store visit helped narrow down the list of “maybe” gowns simply by feeling the fabric weight and examining the details. There were many dresses worth returning for, so I set up an appointment to return in two weeks. The idea of trying on some of my absolute favorite gowns at such a legendary store was beyond exciting!

Downstairs houses the bridesmaids’ dresses, special-occasion dresses, and sale racks. I encouraged BM R to try on bridesmaids’ gowns, and we found some bridesmaids’ dress contenders to consider (at a lovely price point) once I finally pick a gown. R loved the waist-nipping fit of 1515 (top row, middle) that is better suited to a gal with curves (NOT the model), while I loved the movement and weightlessness of 1504 (bottom row, right). Seeing all those pretty bridesmaids’ gowns, I was a smidge jealous I couldn’t wear one too.

I had almost the same exact experience one day with my sister there!! (We had an appt at POB and not at the other salon). It is a fantastic salon-much much nicer then the POB that is actually in Boston which was funny to me.

I love Priscilla of Boston, they have some excellent choices! I felt that tinge of jealousness, too!

Ooohhh! Wait until your appointment, they will treat you like royalty. So pretty, maybe you could order a BM dress in another color as a party dress :) Good luck gown shopping!

Priscilla of Boston makes my favorite bridal gowns and BM dresses. So beautiful! They are just a little too pricey for our budgets.

We ended up with Priscilla of Boston bridesmaid dresses that were the perfect, fabric, color and in our budget! Only 1 of my bridesmaids was in town at the time so I tried on dresses with her so she wouldn’t have to do all the work. I had to keep reminding myself that I wouldn’t be the one wearing the dress and that I didn’t get to buy one too! lol

I adore POB’s bridesmaids dresses! :) My girls & I chose the 1504 for the same reasons you listed - it’s light, flowy, and flattered everyone’s shape!
