Classic Shoe Inspiration

February 14th, 2011 @ 10:45 am by Mrs. Tartlet

I hinted in my previous post that I’ve been experiencing a bit of shoe regret. Although I’m head over heels for the trend of using brightly colored shoes to punch up your wedding day fashion, I’m starting to question pairing my light and airy wedding dress with a bold color. And, because our color palette is filled with soft, romantic hues, I started to consider my options for a more “classic” look.

Middle Row: Audrey Brooke Valentine, Kate Spade Evie

Bottom Row: Nina Gita, Ivanka Trump Doublet

One thing I’m sure of is that I’ll be wearing heels on our wedding day. I love how they lengthen my legs and perk up my bum. I’m also fortunate that my arches rarely ache, even in 4 inch heels. It’s usually the toe area that does me in because of my extremely wide, borderline hobbit-esque feet. Let’s not discount the beauty of flats, though, just in case I decide to eat my own words:

Middle Row: Vivienne Westwood Anglomania + Ultragirl V, Kate Spade Astro

So. many. possibilities.

What’s your shoe “personality”:modern, or classic? Which of these lovely choices above are your favorite?

I to describe my feet as ‘hobbit like’. If it’s not a W size, it’s tough to fit which is why heels have always been difficult for me. Those are so pretty though! I love the flats as well!

I was facing the same dilemma about going with coloured shoes vs classic. Since our main colour is yellow, I decided against getting yellow shoes. Although it would be fun, I just couldn’t go through with getting yellow shoes.

I decided on bone ivory shoes that I found on shoes.com. I just want to see them with my dress, but I think it was the right choice! They even came with detachable flowers which are too cute.

I may go with yellow flats for the reception though…now that I think about it.

Decisions!

I love love love all of these options! They’re all gorgeous! I think I’m a classic girl, and I’ll be going with flats. I don’t want to risk stinging feet, and plus, my hunny is a shorter fella! Great inspiration here!

I like the Ivanka’s!

I really love the bright shoe trend, but I ended up going with ivory to match my gown. I think the pop of color looks perfect with certain types of gowns, but some lend themselves better to a matching shoe, and that’s the kind of gown I ended up with! I just painted my toenails green. :)

Nothing beats classic and elegant, in my book :)

I chose Nina’s Paladin heels, which I absolutely love! I had to go with heels because the mans is an entire foot taller than me, but my hobbit-esque feets and pathetic arches negated a 4″ heel choice.

I don’t think you can go wrong with ANY of the shoes pictures here, but my personal favorites are the Nina Gita.

I also love the colored shoe trend and thought seriously about getting purple shoes to match our color scheme. I had trouble finding what I was looking for, and ended up with ivory to match my all lace dress. I ended up being quite happy with my “classic” look!

@culby cheese: Well said–you totally hit the nail on the head!
@DiamondsandLace: The Paladins are another one of my faves. Mr. Tartlet is a fair bit taller than me as well, and when we first started dating I *always* wore heels. The first time I wore flats he gave me a puzzled look and said (with a totally straight face): “I think we might have a problem. You’ve shrunk.”
@eeper: Ohhhh, I’m glad to hear from another gal who has an all lace dress! In my head shoes look great when paired with my dress, but then in reality the look is completely different.

I need Wide shoes, i.e. the W size so most cute shoes were out for me, so I wne tivory with a slight embellishment.

*drools*

I lovelovelove the look of classy & sexy heels, but cannot wear them for the life of me!
I’ve been on the hunt for some soft ballet flats, but keep turning up empty handed.

Thanks for the shoe porn, now I want to go shopping :)

I just ordered the Audrey Brooke Valentine in red for my wedding. I’m anxious to see it with my dress.

My taste is neither modern or classic: it’s expensive. Of course, I love the Kate Spade flats. Of course…

All joking aside, I trend toward modern.

I also have wider feet and ordered the Brook Valentine from DSW because it came in a wide option and let me tell you, it was not wide. just a heads up :)

@Miss Pain au Chocolat: LOL - I’m with you, girl! Both my sister and I have the gene where we manage to hone in on the most expensive item, even without seeing the price tag.
@brookeb269: Thanks for the tip!

I was planning on going for the pop of color but seeing this post has me reconsidering. Those classic, soft hues are so beautiful. My favorite is the BM Dusk.

Not that you need any more shoe inspiration, but I think these would be a fantastic addition if you decided to go down the neutral show route: http://www.bhldn.com/the-shop_shoes/bow-topped-slingbacks So adorable!

The Vivienne Westwood shoes are my faves of the flat bunch! If I was going to have flats on at the wedding, it would definitely be those ones!
