About Mrs. Crepe

Sharing the Vision

February 15th, 2011 @ 12:53 pm by Mrs. Crepe

There are parts of planning where it’s a complete struggle to get your partner to see the image that’s in your, dare I say, VISION. So you try to explain with words, but soon you’re exasperated and start gesturing wildly with your hands. Then your voice gradually creeps up until it’s an octave higher than normal. While he just watches you with a blank, vacant stare. Wondering why you’re foaming at the mouth.

And then there are times like this.

I approached Mr. Crepe with a well-circulated centerpiece idea (to be fair, I knew my audience—a major bibliophile) and suggested an arrangement that used stacks of old books. The man LOVED it. “You know,” I said, “your job can be to find these books.” An excuse to go into used bookstores under the guise of wedding planning? He practically fainted.

Then I showed him some inspiration photos where people used little antique bottles and blue Mason jars to hold florals and greens. He said, “That is a GREAT idea!!” and, on my most recent trip to Nashville, found a bunch of antique shops so we could go hunting for said bottles.

What a great idea! Isn’t is so fun when your FI enthusiastically wants to be a part of the planning?

It’s so cool how you could use his passions as wedding decor! I can’t complain, as my FI is very involved, but I’m definitely the most excited of the two!

This is my exact inspiration for tablescapes. We found all of our books at the Disabled American Veteran’s thrift store. Not sure if you have one in your area, but ours was seriously full of books. We got 60 vintage books for $53. It was the easiest/cheapest thing we’ve found yet!

The best way EVER to get the guy interested in the wedding details…give him a task that peaks his interests too… good call!

Shut up! Those photos are awesome! And what a great way to pull Mr. C into it!

Have any advice from getting Mr. G interested? All that guy wants to do is taste food. . .

The first paragraph of this post is hilarious. Like laugh-out-loud-at-my-desk-and-people-look-at-me-funny hilarous. I have been here so many times!

Oh, I can just tell you’re going to be one of my favorite bloggers. You have the same centerpiece idea as me! We both love flowers! Your first paragraph sounds exactly like me, too… maybe not such a great thing.

Anyway, we’re thinking of having dinner in the grand old library of a Gilded Age, Tudor-style estate. I was delighted when I realized we could have supper there and that all my quirky vintage-y ideas would seem completely appropriate.

(In my family/in-laws’ family, all weddings look exactly the same, so they already think I’m crazy. But if it works, it works.)

How great that he loved the idea so quickly! Mr. Jag is pretty easy-going, but has admitted that while he enjoys “imagining” my visions? He would have no idea how to make them happen. :)
