Hello, my lovelies! In this final installment in my search for those picture-perfect wedding shoes, I come bearing a dilemma and a question. Here’s a synopsis of my shoe-scapades thus far: I found a fresh pair of green heels, but started to second-guess whether they would detract from my overall look. I mustered up some classic shoe inspiration, which eventually led me to stalk this flirty pair of heels on eBay:

Oh, my red-soled Pour Monsieurs. I have a serious crush on the whimsical design of these slingbacks. Although I have few qualms with purchasing items used, shoes are the exception to this rule because…well, I don’t like feet. My own included; they’re all knobbly and callused from years of pointe shoe abuse, and I certainly wouldn’t want anyone to wear shoes that my feet have lived in. However, the woman selling this pair assured me they were barely worn, and the fact that the soles were unscuffed supported her information. After being a pest and asking for numerous additional, close-up photos from multiple angles, I sought out second, third, and fourth opinions from this this forum of people far better versed in these shoes. A price tag of almost $200 makes authenticity serious business.
The other day I did it. I bought them. And now, I’m a two-shoe bride.
Although aesthetics are important, comfort is my #1 concern so I conducted a highly (note the sarcasm) scientific experiment where I wore each pair around my apartment while doing various activities. I washed dishes. I vacuumed in them (carefully). I even put on my iTunes and shimmied out a few dance moves. They both have their drawbacks: because my left foot is a good half-size larger than my right, the size 6.5 Enlightenment’s slid off my right heel quite easily, especially if I shifted my weight to the balls of my feet. The height difference of the Monsieurs was noticeable, but not as much as I thought it would be (I think the 1/2″ platform at the front of the shoe helped). I didn’t feel any pain in my Achilles wearing either, and my arch actually felt better in the Monsieur’s because I wasn’t trying to grip them with my toes to prevent them from falling off.
I could go on, but you get the idea—the pros and cons of each pair have them neck in neck, and I can’t seem to make a decision. So, I turn to the Hive! Let’s hear it, bees: which pair are you feeling for the big day? Here’s a reminder of what my dress looks like, along with the shoes in contention.
