Dressing the Bridal Party

February 17th, 2011 @ 11:42 am by Mrs. Crepe

At this stage, this was probably the most stressed I’ve felt about wedding planning. These two are the most important ladies in my life, next to my mama. I wanted them to be happy with what they wore and feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful.

What makes them so special to me is that they always offer a uniquely different perspective to me because of their contrasting personalities and life experiences; that translates to a different sense of style as well. There was also the problem of my own little ideas. I had fallen in love with this wedding and thought the idea to outfit the girls in Anthro dresses (and vintage cocktail hats!!) was so cute:

Since Anthropologie dresses were a little more on the expensive side, I started out by shopping around online at sites with vintage-style dresses, and the first stop was ModCloth. I didn’t have a color scheme yet, so we just browsed around for styles.

I also took a look around Ruche, which also has cute, vintage-style dresses.

I very quickly saw that this wasn’t going to be easy. I realized that I was being drawn to dresses that I liked for myself but, since we all have different body types, that was not the way to go. As much as I loved internet shopping, this was something we were going to have to do in real life.

When we all went wedding-dress shopping, we had the opportunity to browse through a few BM/MOH dresses. After that, we went home, each of us knowing a little bit more about the others’ styles.

Soon after, I found ASOS, and I can’t believe I never knew about this website. I love it for weddings because they have runway videos of the dresses so you can see how the fabric moves with the person. I came across one that I knew would look amazing on my MOH and emailed it over to her. She loved it and promptly purchased it. A week or so afterward, the BM hit the shops and found a few dresses that she liked, snapped photos with her iPhone, and sent them over. I picked the one that would match the MOH dress.

I love both of these dresses, and they suit each girl so well. What I thought was going to be a tough process turned out to be completely easy and painless. I guess that shouldn’t surprise me. They are my besties, after all!

Love the urban outfitters dress - would it be weird to buy one for myself? ;) And the hats in the first picture - omg, I die.
