More Choices, More Headaches

February 18th, 2011 @ 4:05 pm by Mrs. French Toast

Is it me? Or has the bridal scene exploded with new offerings?

Maybe I’m more sensitive to the ongoings of the bridal industry since I’m in the midst of planning a wedding, but I can’t help but notice that more and more companies are launching a “bridal” line.

Apparently these companies got the memo that the wedding industry is recession proof.

Of course, an affordable Vera Wang line is now available at David’s Bridal..

For a wishy-washy bride like me who can never make up her mind, the possibilities out there are endless and overwhelming at times. At times, I need my sister to look me in the eye and say, “French Toast… STOP LOOKING AT WEDDING STUFF!” and bring me back to reality.

Which new bridal line launch are you most excited about?

BHLDN, absolutely! I was worried there’d be something I like better than my own dress, but luckily, I happen to think mine is even nicer. ;) I think all the BHLDN dresses are awesome, but just not right for me.

I was obsessed with the Vera Wang Diedre but could have never spent that much on a dress…and now the DB dress is so similar. But, sigh, I already bought a different dress. I am tempted to try on the DB but am afraid I will love it :(

I’m with Miss Cinnamon Bun! I’m enjoying window shopping the most at BHLDN, but I’m still happiest with my dress!

Oh man, like CB I was terrified to look at BHLDN’s stuff. Luckily, none of their dresses would fit my body type. PHEW!

Honestly, it’s easy for me not to get excited about these. The new releases are gorgeous but none of them are in my size. Frustrating, but probably best t keep me from driving myself nuts.

@Mrs. Pin Cushion: you made me laugh out loud, girlfriend.

As for yours truly, I pounced on that bhldn site on v-day like a crazy girl at a sample sale. I was hoping to find a flower hair pin but OMG they were BANK. Back to etsy I go!

The Vera Wang line for Davids Bridal totally made my heart skip a beat!! I have wanted a Vera Wang dress sense I was a little girl…my grandma would take me into high end shops in SF and I would drool…the fact that they are within my reach now makes me giddy inside!! and hehe Mrs. Pin Cushion, love the idea!

I just tried on the Vera’s and they are yummy, but I still think my dress is MY dress. In the end, I made the call to order MY dress, but there was one that I still am thinking about.
All Costco needs now is a buy here, pay here kiosk with a wedding planner manning it. Get your whole wedding and a case of aspirin all in the same trip, and if you stop by the bakery you can do the cake taste testing also (limited to Saturdays and Sundays of course). If you walk past the freezer section, be sure to sample the hor d’oeuvres you’ll be having for cocktail hour and back in the meat department they are sampling your entree.

I so wish Vera was designing for David’s, or BHLDN was out when I was shopping - such lovely choices!
