Mrs. Tartlet's Picture
Mrs. Tartlet, Rochester, MI Age and Occupation: Age & Occupation: 27, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Medical Student Engagement Date: May 2, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: The Royal Park Hotel About Me: I'm an exuberant gal from the Midwest with a penchant for Neuroscience and anything sparkly. I'm not afraid to poke fun at myself, and I'm a believer that given the right pair of shoes, a girl can conquer the world. While an interest in the sciences threw Mr. Tartlet and me together (again, and again, until it finally stuck), we share a love for many things---food, video games, car dancing, food, bad puns, travel, did I mention food?---that ultimately led us to where we are now, less than five months from becoming Mr. and Mrs. We're planning a laid-back, romantic, garden-inspired affair with organic and quirky touches that reflect our love for the unexpected!
About Mrs. Tartlet

Sugar, Sugar

February 18th, 2011 @ 6:26 pm by Mrs. Tartlet

I was absolutely delighted by the input on my previous post! Can I just say that I love this community? Because I really do. Thanks for helping this indecisive gal out!

Today I’m moving upwards from my feet and talking about something that’s very close to my heart: my stomach. While there’s something magical about the traditional, tiered wedding cake—nowadays there are so many creative, sweet endings to indulge in. I can’t help but drool a bit as I see these dessert displays incorporated into other weddings. One of my regular blog reads, Ruffled, even featured a post the other day all about the art of dessert bars. Check it out for some great tips and tricks! In the meantime, get ready for a visual sugar high, my dears.

The ice cream sundae bar, which the Tartlets–if we could–would twist into a gelato bar:

What sort of treats did you, or will you serve your guests? Stay tuned to see what we decided on!

Yummy!! We’re doing a cookie buffet and doing cheesecake for our cake and dessert. I love doing things differently than a traditional cake!

This post is the mortal enemy of anyone attempting to avoid sweets! Still, I can’t wait to see what you’ve chosen to do after looking at your amazing inspirations. :)

Mmm I am officially drooling! I would love to have any/all of these at our wedding and I don’t think you can go wrong!

We will definitely be doing a smore’s bar at our pre-wedding reception (the night before the wedding) for out of town guests. I’m more excited for that than I am for the wedding cake haha!

*tummy grumbling* I cannot wait to see what deliciousness the tartlets choose! Meanwhile, I will be in the corner stuffing my face with those mini donuts. Yummmmm.

We’re doing a dessert table… one cutting cake, some family and grocery store supplied desserts, and mini banana puddings and chocolate covered strawberries from our caterer :)

@piglet_625: Oh my gosh, a cookie buffet! That sounds incredible!
@Miss Lox: Tell me about it…I was popping M&Ms like crazy while writing this post. ;)
@CapeBride917: I may have to borrow your idea for our welcoming dinner! Mr. Tartlet’s parents have a fire pit in their backyard, and this would be PERFECT. Thank you!
@Chocolatte: Thanks for the info! I heart Target shopping. :D
@glaca, @spinningstars: This post has come back to bite me in the bum. Your dessert tables sound amazing!

ZOMG, I love that gelato parlor idea! We’re doing a cookie bar, as per Catholic/Pittsburgh tradition, but we’re having quite the myriad of offerings. Whenever I see posts like this, I just add more things on my list to bake…Cookies, Cupcakes, Donuts?? I MUST BE STOPPED!

Oh man, I think the crazy amount of dessert ideas out there is a bit overwhelming! We’re going for a dessert bar with many, many offerings. And now I’m totally craving something sweet… and it’s not even 10 am. Oh no!

I want pie, I want candy, I want just about everything! Even cupcakes! But we’ll restrain ourselves and just have a delicious pie buffet. :)

The gelato bar idea is so fab! If that’s not doable, I think your other inspiration pics are so delish
