I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. About Mrs. Rainbow

From Inspiration To Reality

February 18th, 2011 @ 8:45 am by Mrs. Rainbow

I love, love, love inspiration boards. I don’t know how people plan weddings without one. For me, it was indispensable. I’m pretty sure that without having a clear cut, readily accessible place to keep all my ideas, our wedding would have been one hot-ass mess. I even printed my board out when I went to find ribbon, flowers, etc.!

That said, obviously I’m big on having an overall vision. I like cohesion. I like to know where everything is going, if you will. Judging by my past here on the ’bee, I always have been.

That said, one of my most favorite post-wedding series are the “inspiration vs. reality” posts. I absolutely love seeing how brides pulled everything together to create a wedding based on their inspiration. Mrs. Peep Toe’s wedding was bright and festive, Mrs. Sand Dollar had a rustic affair, Mrs. Cheeseburger’s was classy and elegant, and Mrs. Flamingo’s wedding was pure vintage glamour. Oddly enough, I’m at a loss for words to exactly describe our wedding, so I’ll just show you!

What do you think, hive? Is my reality close to my inspiration? Did/do you use inspiration boards to help with planning?

@mclove: Agreed! Everything came together so beautifully, Rainbow. :)

I’ve referenced our inspiration board so many times during the planning process, and can’t wait to make a “reality” board of our own!

I think you did a great job of keeping the overall feel of it while still making it your own! Congrats Rainbow! :)

Wow, nice job!! Your own board is better than your inspiration board! I think yours reflects your colors and the feel much more clearly.

Just one inspiration board? I may have a problem… I’ve probably put together 5 now, and am in no way done! But I’m sure one day closer to the date I’ll have an all-encompassing I-Board like yours. :)

These are my favorite kind of posts! I love seeing the inspiration board replicated so closely. I did the same thing for my wedding ;) I think yours turned out fabulous, and looks like a dead ringer for your event! Nicely done Rainbow!

This may sound dumb, but how exactly do you make an inspiration board? I’ve seen them online- I think Dessy.com and theknot.com have them all made up. But really, how do I make one? And when I make what should I do with it? How?

Those last 2 questions don’t make any sense. I meant, what should I do with the board once I make it? How do I use it?

It honestly looks like your actual board was the inspiration for your inspiration board! How about calling it “Glam Romance?”
