Trend: Rosettes

February 18th, 2011 @ 3:24 pm by Mrs. Pain au Chocolat

Around the time I purchased my gown, I spotted a strikingly similar Monique Lhuillier gown. Wedding gowns that share similarities are not uncommon. After all, how many times can you reinvent the white dress? But this gown prominently featured rosettes—a detail I hadn’t seen anywhere else.

Not only does it have rosettes, but they vary in size too. The skirt is covered with them, so it’s not an isolated detail. The differences are the fabric (what appears to be satin versus the crinkle chiffon of my gown) and skirt shape (A-line versus fit-to-flare). I chalked this gown up to a coincidence.

Because her gowns are gorgeous and I’m a girl with a ring, I continued browsing.

Oh, hey. It’s a different silhouette. Click, click.

And a high-low version, in tulle. OK…this was starting to get weird.

Gah! Another one! This Spring 2010 gown marked the appearance of her first rosette-inspired piece. The onslaught of rosette gowns above came later (Spring 2011).

Curiouser and curiouser, I did some digging and found many more gowns…

This one offers a more restrained use of the flowers.

I think we can officially say, “It’s a trend.”

After looking at all these gowns, there is no question I picked the “right” rosette gown. I’m still in love with my Wallis.

Did you dare risk looking at other gowns after you found The Dress? Any dress regrets, or did looking only confirm your love of your gown?

Watters Lasara has the rosettes as well, although they’re nowhere near as big as on these dresses. LOVE them all though ;)

Ha, welcome to my world — I had pages and pages and pages and pages of printed-out rosette gowns in my dress binder! A lot of the same ones you’ve got here, too. :) They’re a trend for sure, but I don’t think they’re THAT common yet. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself!

Wow, that is a gorgeous gown!

Also, I totally stopped looking for dresses. I love seeing other people in their dresses, but I have officially stopped browsing the wedding dress sites!

Love rosettes and your dress. Honestly, I stopped looking once I bought. It was hard avoiding threads though.

Oh, man. I love all this beautiful inspiration. But I’m convinced that you got it right with YOUR dress.

Mmmm, I love the tulle straps on the Lela Rose. I’m glad you remain strongly attached to Wallis, she’s a beaut!

I love yours! That one dress does have a big honkin’ rosette, but I love that shade of pink….

@linkkm:
I haven’t seen Lasara yet (and will go look it up now). Must have come out since I wrote this.
@linkkm: Talk about relieved that I didn’t have all of these dresses to choose from! How the heck could I have decided without trying *every* single one of them on.
@Miss Panther: I have seen only a few in actual weddings (mine and yours, both on SMP). They’re far from mainstream choices which makes me feel less “abandonwagon.” (Hey, I used the word I just learned today!)
@Miss Oatmeal: A small part of me was afraid I’d like one of them more. But, nope! I’m good. :)
@Miss Tartlet: LOVE that Lela Rose one. One of my favorites of the rosette gowns.

I seriously heart the rosettes, and I’m glad you’re still happy with your choice after seeing all of those! Personally, I had to stop looking at dresses because I know how I am and I would work myself into a panic. I’m just weird like that.

I loved Bijou. Until I tried it on. Just didn’t have the Wow factor of my (MUCH cheaper!) gown. I love yours :).

I love yours. And the Allure. And the Jenny Lee up in the middle there. And that last Rivini. Oh, dear, I think I need to get married a few more times. :P

@Miss Lox: The trick for me was being happy with my gown after received a lackluster familial response. It took about two weeks to get my head on straight but I’ve never been surer since.
@Miss Biscuit: I love the bodice and oh, the skirt on your gown. Okay, so I love it all. Can’t wait to see the final “look”!
@mak418: hahaha, maybe you could be a professional dress tryer-oner?

@kaitlinking: aaaaahahahha! I’m glad someone else has the same issue. The worst is when I’m trying to upload pictures for a post or read WB posts while he’s playing CoD. Major lag. Oh, do I hear about it! (Still giggling.)

Mine is the allure!!!!! Its AMAZING! I do love the Lela Rose one though. Have you seen aire barcelona’s Nuria? That was the one i would have gotten if it were as cheap as the allure.

I was just looking at these dresses and confirming that yes, I chose the right dress.

Mine has fabric flowers and rosettes and I love it, but I can’t help but sneak looks at other dresses!

My fiance glanced at my laptop while I was reading this post and asked if, after the wedding, I would keep looking at wedding dresses. I promised him I would, but he’s not holding his breath.

I went out and tried on dresses just yesterday to make sure it was MY dress, the White collection is STUNNING on and feels like a dream, but in the end my dress was still MY dress and I love her.

I love, love, LOVE the rosette trend!!! I hope it sticks around until I actually get engaged, or else I’ll be desperately looking in all corners of the interwebs for one of these blooming beauties! <3
