We had a few friendors, all of whom we tried to shower with love, thank-you nice dinner, and thank-you gift cards. Hairtique MeMe is one of my grrls. Print-goods genius Good on Paper, in addition to being a wonderful designer, is an old pal of my mister’s. Her husband was in our wedding, and Mr. T was in theirs. Our DJ is a friend first. Bridesmaid AM’s sister was our mega-organized day-of coordinator.
And, Bridesmaid JB and her man, both chefs, made and designed our cake/cupcakes setup. It’s about time for some shameless dessert porn, wouldn’t you say?

I don’t think any groom enjoyed cake tastings as much as this guy did. Pics by Ashley Forrette and Gem Photo unless otherwise noted.
She took this very seriously, as you can see. The Art Deco chevrons on top were inspired by the ones in my inspiration board. Pic by Right Angle Images.

The tippy-top was a banana-cream pie cheesecake, an ode to my mister’s Texas roots, mentioned briefly in this post. So, it tasted like all of those things: bananas, cheesecake, and cream with a Nilla-wafer crust. Pearly fondant covered the whole thing, but it came right off when cut, as expected. I’m not into eating fondant because of its plasticky, rubbery, not-exactly-flavored qualities. But it does smooth things out better, per the advice of my chef.
Half of our cupcakes were mini-cheesecakes made of the same stuff, with sugared rose petals for garnish.

Note the T&J wrappers. JB found them on Etsy.
Cupcake #2 had red wine in it, an appropriate choice given our wedding colors and interests. It also had chunks of dark chocolate and cream-cheese frosting. No exaggeration: you needed to chase this sucker with a whole glass of water. Heavenly! Her biz is on hiatus, but I’m still a huge fan, obviously.

For the kiddies: peanut-butter cupcake with jelly icing, baked into a cone. We didn’t have too many of these, owing to just a smattering of kids.
Who let this woman have a knife? Two pics above by Right Angle Images.

Just like at home, I leave serious food-cutting to him. This pic and two below by Right Angle Images.
At some point in here, we realized we couldn’t cut through all the way without knocking the whole thing over. Nilla-wafer crust means business.
Uh oh.
Since having your cake slide into the floor is probably a party foul, JB came over to hold that sucker down.
Ah, finally.
Here comes the airplane. Pic by Right Angle Images.

JB says she loves watching people eat her food. I can’t blame her. Groom is reacting to the goodness, and I’m stuffing a fork in his hand so I can eat it already.

This pic turned out to be very important documentation after I accused him of forgetting to feed me back. I blame the sparkling-wine haze.

My friend Kaitlin said she’s pretty sure cake was the only reason I had the wedding, given how excited I was. Yum! Guest pic.

This is my BACK OFF, I’M STARVING look. Guest pic.
We have the rest of the cake at home, though we’re unsure how it’ll hold up. We were a tad sloppy with that part, opting to “preserve” it by sticking the whole box in the freezer and calling it a day. We will definitely eat it anyway on our one-year in August. (Six months from now, what??)
Thank you, JB and H <3
Next, let’s head to the balcony to keep tabs on nighttime shenanigans.
