Well, folks, we are reaching that time of day in Wedding Recap Land. It is very nearly 2PM or possibly 2:30 there, and that means that things are winding down.
The dancing was wrapping up, and quite frankly, we were exhausted. Some of our friends and family were leaving in small groups, but other people were drifting outside, sitting, enjoying the sun of the fall afternoon.
I remember that I spent this part of the day bouncing around a little bit; what had I missed? Had I seen everyone? Were they having a good time? Were we really married? I had, and they were, and we were. We had another cup of coffee, another bite of pie. More hugs. These short sentences you’re reading now—pretty much how my brain was working at this point in the day.
We had a chance to take the “family” photos we hadn’t been able to take before: college family, friend family, everyone family.
Surprising fact: this was not posed, except Ellie said “hug someone near you!”
College roommates for life! Notice that I DID get to wear my awesome Chacos.
Hey, you guys? When I started writing this post, I thought it would be a bunch of pictures and I would tell you about them and that would be it. And then I would tell you later about all the other parts of our wedding, like where that chinchilla I mentioned comes into play and the ice cream the motorboat ride (okay, that was our honeymoon). And I will still tell you about all of those things, eventually, but I realized as I was putting these pictures together that while this wasn’t the end of our day, this was the end of our wedding.
all in for the cheer…
“Ready? On three… NewLastName.”
So this will be my last Across the Shoreline post, and I am much more emotional about than I thought I would be. At this point in our wedding day, I was floating on love and adrenaline, and I can tell you exactly what happened after we got in that car (clunking down the road with those soda cans!) and got back to the inn: we fell asleep. It was the best nap of my entire life. What I mean to say is that on our wedding day, I didn’t have room in my self to feel sad that it was ending—unlike today.
NEW LAST NAME
Hooray!
To the ever-awesome hive: you guys are amazing. Your comments light up my day, even if I am terrible about responding to you individually (and I am sorry that I am terrible at responding to you individually!). It is absolutely amazing to hear when I’ve inspired you, and it has been such a comfort to know that if I need advice on something wedding-related, I have a whole lot of people to turn to. I don’t know that my wedding planning experience would have been anywhere near as sane as it actually was if I hadn’t had the hive on my side.
So, for now, I’m sort of signing off. I say sort of because I promise I will be back at some point with the tales of our honeymoon and our wedding afternoon adventures, and maybe actually do the Bee’s Life thing and tell you why I picked Seahorse in the first place… but this is the end of our wedding itself. I am still on the internet though! You can visit me for non-wedding fun at Queer Skies Ahead, which would be amazing because I’m really going to miss all of you. Thank you for your offers of support, for your sanity, and for generally being really fantastic. Did I already mention that I’m going to miss you? I miss you already.
Love always,
Ms. Seahorse

the day we got enGAYged, oh so long ago: back when this whole thing started
