Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Can I PLEASE Wear it Now?

February 21st, 2011 @ 12:16 pm by Mrs. Jaguar

It’s time to check one more thing off our to-do list, because this engaged gal just found herself a wedding band. If you’re wondering what that bizarre noise is, that would be me squee-ing with excitement from all the way across the globe in little Sydney-town.

I’ve been fretting about being able to find the right wedding band for me ever since Mr. Jaguar proposed with my lovely engagement ring. If you’re wondering why I’d be worried about buying jewellery (really? who does that!?), let me take you back into the wee early hours of our engagement—not long after I joined the Hive, I admitted I had man-hands when my engagement ring was way too small for me, and the three long months of waiting we endured before my ring was resized and back in my hot little hands. That whole experience, while worth it in the end, sucked. I was sure that I would have a similar problem with sizing when it came to finding a wedding band to match.

So came the big question:

to go with a plain platinum band that could be easily resized, or to find a matching channel-set band that would match my engagement ring but not take forever to be sized correctly. Last time I left you on the ring front, we had visited a whole stack of jewellery stores, only to find that matching the band to the e-ring wasn’t going to be as easy as it seemed. I’m happy to say that the ring dilemma is now solved, and even happier that we managed to go with option two, which is going to make for a beautiful partnership. Here’s what we chose:

Can I PLEASE Wear it Now? : wedding rings sydney 1 1

The ring is an exact match to my engagement ring, because we purchased it from the same store. It’s a 3mm half channel-set band from Tiffany. Yes, we splurged, and yes, it was more than we wanted to spend, but YES. It was the one. And since I’ll be planning on wearing these babies together for the rest of my life, we are happy with our choice. The band looks lovely by itself too, which is a good option in case there are ever any times where I’d prefer to not be wearing my engagement ring. (Brace yourself for the man hands!)

But of course, they look the best when they’re together. The band is still super shiny but I’ll be definitely making sure to get them both cleaned before the wedding, because I think that will make them really pop. I seriously can’t wait to wear them!

This saga isn’t quite over yet though, as Mr. Jaguar has yet to find a ring that he likes. In fact, I think even he is a little apprehensive about ring shopping—he has long, thin fingers with chunky knuckles (say that ten times fast) and is nervous about finding something that’ll fit and not look weird on his hands. Apart from a watch, he’s never worn a piece of jewellery in his life, so I’m excited to take him shopping and see what he picks out!

How did you decide what wedding ring would be the right match for you?

IT’s beautiful! I had a family friend who’s a jeweler replicate a Tiffany ring for my wedding band. *sheepish*

Believe it or not, we got Mr. Lox straightened out before we got me taken care of. I’m still waiting to go ring shopping.

Mr. Crunchie Bar’s band is already bought but he complains about not being able to wear it yet. I may have to hide it from him!

It looks amazing!

I am a bit biased though- I’m going to have a very similar set. I have the Tiffany bead set round brilliant and I’m going to get the matching bands. The bands are so expensive but after splurging on the engagement ring it kinda makes sense to finish off the set so it’s just perfect.

Did you get your band in the same size as your e-ring? I presume this is normal but I haven’t ordered mine yet so I was just wondering. :)

This cracked me up because the day I got my band, I kept trying it on every half hour! I finally gave it to my FMIL to lock in her safe — that was the only way I could stop myself from saying good morning and good night to it for the next 113 days!! (I didn’t want to get so used to seeing it that it took away from the AHHHHH factor on the actual day of the wedding!)

@Lilacgal: Thanks! I keep telling Mr. Jag he’ll be fine, but he’s still a nervous little petal.

@Ms. Sparkles: Nothing wrong with that! It’s the style and the setting that sets them apart, and if I’d found a perfect match for a cheaper price, I would’ve done the exact same. :)

@Miss Cinnamon Bun: Your secret is safe with me, Miss CB - because I do the same thing!

@Miss Lox: That’s awesome, though. Do you know what kind of a ring you want?

@CrunchieBar: I love that he’s so keen to wear it! That’s sweet.

@Sarah: Sarah, the bead set is gorgeous. I loved that band, too. Yes, I got the band the same size. I was worried my e-ring wouldn’t fit having it be squished up higher around my ‘knuckle pudge’ but they go together perfectly! Still try them on in the same size though, just to be sure. :)

@morganmoyer: Thank you so much!

@Miss Tartlet: Cheers, Miss T! :)

@Okole Makuna: I love this comment! I’ve had to lock mine away in a drawer… keeping it somewhere safe until the wedding day. Good plan, I like it.

@Miss Ostrich: Bling! They’re not too bad, are they? I think they’re perfect for me, especially since I don’t really wear any other jewellery. :) Thanks!

I feel your man hand pain, I actually switched rings with one of the guys at work one day, I wore his band and he wore my e-ring, I work in retail so it was really funny to see customers reactions to it.
