Mrs. Brooch's Picture
Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.
About Mrs. Brooch

Please Rehearse and Eat With Us

February 22nd, 2011 @ 3:34 pm by Mrs. Brooch

Like I mentioned, we had to decide between Bond 45 and McCormick and Schmick’s on the National Harbor for our rehearsal dinner. Well, M&S won! We had such a great experience  when we went, and the staff were great! Bond 45 was WAY more expensive than we thought it would be, and the feeling in the place just wasn’t nearly as warm. If you have questions, PM me because it was quite a disaster! We weren’t happy at all. We actually left Bond 45 and went back to M&S for dessert, and so, it was decided!

My FMIL is going there next Friday to check out the place and look at their banquet menus. I told her I would take care of picking out the invitations (any chance I get at gawking over paper goods, I take) and therefore, I’ve been scouring the Internet for hours now.

Here are my top three contenders:

Please Rehearse and Eat With Us : wedding arlington invitations rehearsal stationery 12 Signature Ecru Rehearsal Dinner Invitations Timeless Calligraphy - Front : Black Russian

I have a serious thing for fancy fonts, so it’s no wonder the Timeless Calligraphy: Black Russian (part of the Signature Ecru Rehearsal Dinner Invitations suite) stuck out to me. It’s clean and simple and I love it! I almost wish we had gone this route with our wedding invitations. There’s no frill to distract the eyes from the beautiful calligraphy! Pretty writing is so pretty, and I love it.

Please Rehearse and Eat With Us : wedding arlington invitations rehearsal stationery 101 Signature Ecru Rehearsal Dinner Invitations Unique Pair - Front : Sage

I also really like the Unique Pair in sage (also part of the Signature Ecru Rehearsal Dinner Invitations suite). The visual interest is also in the font here and it’s pretty straightforward, as well. I don’t want to get carried away with themes so much so that our guests are sick of our stuff by the end of the weekend, so that’s why I’m leaning toward something like this, which is totally simple and not tied to our actual wedding very much.

Please Rehearse and Eat With Us : wedding arlington invitations rehearsal stationery 102 Signature White Rehearsal Dinner Invitations Social Flatware - Front : Siren

So super cute, right? This is the Social Flatware: Siren invite and I’m so in love with the idea of going way into left field with this! I’m kind of over all the vintage stuff, anyway. I think this is really sweet and it’s got a little something extra for our guests to look at. I really like that it’s fun and not as stiff and formal as my other two options. After all, we want our guests to look forward to this event and of course, enjoy themselves!

Which is your favorite?

Did you stick with your theme on the rehearsal dinner invites or did you do something completely new?

I like the 2nd one because it has the pretty fonts but is more laid back and fun . . . a good mix of the two!

Oh I love the middle one but I am a sucker for big, colorful letters any day of the week. :-P

I like the second one the best - something about it is so sweet and pretty. Also, just realized you’re in the DC area! I live and will marry in NoVA, so time to go back and read everysingleone of your posts for advice! ;)

Man, I love them all. But if I had to choose…maybe the second one because that shade of green is divine :).

You can’t go wrong with any of them, but I really like the juxtaposition of the fonts in Option #2!
