Weddingbee Blog

Hello Hive! I can hardly sit still to type these words—I’m so filled with nervous and giddy excitement. Yay! I’m a bee, cute icon and all, I can’t bee-lieve it! (Come on, cheesy bee puns are a requirement for a first post!) Never in a million years would I have guessed that way back when I first stumbled upon Weddingbee (oh, about 4 years ago) that I would see my smiling mug staring back at me on the main page. Eep! In the words of my man William Thacker, aka Hugh Grant, “it’s surreal but nice!”

It was about 20 minutes before quitting time today when I absentmindedly decided to check my emails on my phone, only to see an email from none other than Mrs. Penguin herself welcoming me to the Hive. Being the pessimist that I am, I read and reread that email about 10 times before I finally let the excitement hit.

Unfortunately for me, I had to sit in my cube and try to be productive for another 20 minutes before I could make my escape and call Mister Cotton with the good news. See, no one in my office actually knows we’re planning a wedding (more on that later, I swear!) so it would have been kinda odd to shout out that I’m a Weddingbee! I have to admit that I was thisclose to spilling the beans to my cubemate, but my private side kicked in and stopped me!

Mister Cotton was floored when he heard the news. I hadn’t even told him that I had started blogging seriously, let alone sent in my application. What can I say? I wanted to keep my potential failure on the down low!

So, who exactly are the Cotton Candies?

Well, she’s a professional paper pusher who spends her days processing HR forms and nights thinking up new DIY projects to make their wedding special.

He’s a Process Server who spends his days driving around our fair city serving process to unsuspecting citizens and sneaking in time to work on his true passion: photography.

Above all else we’re just two best friends in love, planning an intimate 65 person wedding in my hometown of Riverside, California—all on our own dime. We have tons of DIY projects up our sleeves and I can’t wait to start sharing them with you all!
