As I got to the fireplace (which was our altar), I took Mr. Socks’ hands and didn’t let go the whole ceremony long until we read our vows. I have to admit, though I tried to concentrate on every word of the ceremony, there were about a million things going on in my head that made it difficult to concentrate.
I kept thinking back to our civil ceremony and the weird faces I made throughout:

Uhh…yeah, I have quite a few pictures of me with pursed lips for whatever reason. I think it was just that I was trying not to smile like an idiot the whole time, and I successfully looked like an idiot anyway.
So for our 10/10/10 wedding, I was determined to smile no matter what, because why shouldn’t I smile during my own ceremony??
Another thing I had in mind the whole time was to make sure Mr. Socks was also smiling and looking at me every few minutes…I didn’t want to get only photos of Mr. Socks at the altar looking at the rest of our bridal party as they delivered the ceremony, I wanted him to steal a few peeps at me, too! So any time I wanted us to look at each other like lovesick puppies, I would gently squeeze his hands so we could be sure to get a good photo.
Yeah, I had a lot on my mind.
But the results? I can gladly say that I’m happy with them!

Mrs. Socks: Be sure you look at me while you’re marrying me.
Mr. Socks: Check!
Our ceremony was largely taken from the amazingly talented Mrs. Cherry Pie’s ceremony since it seemed to fit us so well. We broke it up into sections so each member of our bridal party participated.

Jess started us out by welcoming our family and friends and starting our ring warming around the room.

TJ took over and read our thank you to our families and friends for joining us in Philly, for traveling so far to see us, and spoke about what it is we love about Philly so much.
Next, Matt read out the group declaration of support where our family and friends offered their love and support for our marriage.

Sister Socks then read our marriage address, which reminded us to be loving, patient, and forgiving toward each other as well as to be honest and kind. We still like to reflect on these words as we continue to forge the foundation for our marriage. Sister Socks is not normally a public speaker, and this part of the ceremony was by far the longest, but it meant so much to us to have her read it. She did such a wonderful job despite her nerves, and I’m so glad that she was right up there with us for this part.

Lea was next, where she read our statement of intent, told us to cherish each other, and let us turn and say our vows:

Mr. Socks: For serious, I love you.

Mrs. Socks: Right back atcha, Studmuffin.
(We were much more romantic, but that was the essence of the deal.)

Jay read our pronouncement, and then told us to kiss!

Then we walked back down the aisle to “Signed, Sealed Delivered” which was Mr. Socks’ choice.
I kinda look like a deranged maniac in this photo:

But then I took it down a notch:

Just a little, tiny notch.
And everyone else followed us out, ready to eat, drink and party!
