Many brides consider my homegirl Martha Stewart their wedding guru but, as much as I love my girl Martha, my wedding BFF she is not. That honor, ladies and gentlemen, goes to my man Todd Oldham. Yes, peeps, I said it. Todd mother f-ing Oldham. Specifically his fabulous, creative, wheel-spinning book Handmade Modern.
Handmade Modern is part craft how-to and part history book, inspired by one of my favorite design aesthetics, mid-century modern. For those of you who have not yet had the privilege of flipping through the pages of Mr. Oldham’s book, here’s a little peek inside this tomb of mid-century modern yummy-ness.
This book has not only introduced me to such mid-century modern legends as Eva Zeisel, George Nakashima, and Charlie Harper, but has also inspired the feel and overall aesthetic of our wedding. The mister and I plan to incorporate some of the design projects featured in Handmade Modern, and I couldn’t be more excited!
What offbeat inspiration sources have you turned to while planning your wedding?

I’m so excited that you’re planning a modern wedding! Our home decor style definitely leans towards the modern, and I’m loving that partition in the picture you shared. We’ll have to keep this book in mind for future reference!
