Styling the Boys

February 23rd, 2011 @ 9:13 am by Mrs. Crepe

There are only so many ways to style our guys, so I wanted to find the perfect ties for them. At first, when the color scheme was multicolored, I found a madras plaid tie that was super cute, but then I changed the colors and that had to be scrapped.

I kept an eye out for ties whenever I walked through stores, but didn’t see anything that was wedding appropriate and affordable. But a few weeks ago, while I was browsing the Vimeo page of one of my favorite wedding videographers, I saw this wedding:

Brian & Tina’s SDE // Taipei, Taiwan from Elysium Productions on Vimeo.

I seriously love this video. The bride is one after my own heart—she has that blend of DIY and glamour that I’m trying to achieve with my own event. Plus, Elysium just makes me cry every. single. time.

Sorry, digressing. I think you can tell by now that I have a hard time staying on topic.

Anyway, did you see the ties on those groomsmen?? I adore stripes and this became an instant obsession. A quick Google search for “skinny stripe pink ties” brought up this website. (Straightforward, no?) JACKPOT. Cute, easily paired styles in almost every color. And affordable—some are on sale for almost nine dollars. So I made up a few combos to see what might work in our color scheme, and then I’ll run this handy numbered collage by Mr. Crepe to get an idea of what he and our groomsmen might like to wear.

I’m leaning toward #2, but we might end up with #4.

Which set do you think Mr. Crepe should choose?

Our guys are wearing the solid pink tie in option number 2, the tie featured on a black shirt. Word of caution, it is more peachy than bubble gum pink. That’s what I wanted. But you might want to be careful pairing other pinks with it.

I loved ties-neckties.com though! Watch for their coupons if you are ordering from them. Great customer service!

Just going off your pictures, I like #4 as well! I’m a bit biased towards skinny striped pink ties, though, since Mr. Tartlet plans on wearing one. :) That video is beautiful!

I like #4, your fiance can stand out while the groomsmen coordinate with the polka dots. It blends well together.

I like #1 and #4. I dont think that 3rd tie in the #2 combo really goes. Just my opinion though. Good choices and great website…they have a lot of options for my color combo of purple and gray.

I really like #2, but it sounds like I’m one of the few.

I like 1 and 4 the best….something about the mixup of the others gets too busy.

what about a combo of the multi stripe, the pink stripe and the solid pink? I think it would make more of a transition while making the best man stand out a bit.

I like 1 & 2 but I’m not a major fan of the polka dots and the stripes together it just seems weird to me kinda like wearing shorts and a long sleeve shirt. As a whole though they are all nice.
