Mrs. Socks's Picture
Mrs. Socks, Southern NJ/Philadelphia, PA Age and Occupation: 23, Web Developer/Marketing Specialist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Systems Engineer Engagement Date: September 7, 2009 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: Ladder 15 Restaurant About Me: I am originally from the Midwest, but I love being an East Coast transplant! Mr. Socks and I are foodies and winos to the core---give us a hunk of cheese, some charcuterie and a glass of wine and we could die happy. We have two mischievous Wire Fox Terriers with completely opposite personalities but with a shared love of uprooting anything in our garden. Our backyard garden includes everything from tomatoes and peppers to a fig tree, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries! I love cooking, indie music, and spending time in our wedding city of choice---Philly!
About Mrs. Socks

Right after the ceremony, our guests went upstairs to the third floor of Ladder 15 for the cocktail hour, and Mr. Socks and I gathered with my family for a few more photos. My Grandma didn’t want to climb the two flights of stairs for the cocktail hour, so she and Granddad were comfortably camped at a table with some delicious food in front of them.

We pulled them off to the side to get some photos:

I am so lucky to have my Grandma and Granddad in my life—they are wonderful people who have always been there for me, and I’m so glad that they were able to travel all the way to Philly for our wedding. Grandma and Granddad aren’t “city folk” as they say, so coming to Philly was kinda a big deal for them!

Momma Socks and Dad Socks joined in.

And then we had a group shot of the Sock clan! Since we decided to have our wedding in Philly, we’re missing 14 of my family members on Dad Socks’ side, which made me sad that we weren’t able to see them. We were thrilled with those who could make it, though!

As Mr. Socks and I had to head back upstairs to attend the cocktail hour, I gave Grandma and Granddad some great big hugs:

I think I’ll cherish these photos forever and ever. I’m getting teary-eyed as I even write this…I’m so happy that they were able to come and be a part of our day.

Were you overcome with emotion over some of your family members or friends who made an effort to come to your wedding?

I would have loved to see my grandma at my wedding, but she passed away a year before. So glad you were able to get pics with them, I know you will always cherish them, especially when they pass

That is so sweet! We had one person who surprised me. He checked out of the hospital to come to our wedding. It was the sweetest thing.

You are lucky that you were able to have your grandparents there. I think I was most amazed that some of our guests traveled so far for our wedding. Friends of ours drove 16 hours from Connecticut to Georgia in one day to be there! We had people from Florida, Colorado, New York, Rhode Island, Chicago, Missouri, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts and North Carolina! That made us feel loved!!

this is the one thing i am SAD about our wedding, we will not have a single grandparent there. between the 2 of us we have one living grandparent, and half the time she doesn’t know where she is. bringing her down from PA would be too confusing and stressful for her, so we are planning on making her a parent’s album and visiting soon after.
