Date Savers

February 26th, 2011 @ 1:01 pm by Mrs. Cotton Candy

Holy Jesus! I am deep into making our save the dates, and I am ridiculously happy with what we got so far! Wanna see? I’m not ready to reveal the final results, but what kind of person would I be if I didn’t give you a little taste?

Yummy wood veneer printed on our cheep HP inkjet printer. I absolutely love wood veneer, and from day one knew that I wanted to use it for our save the dates. A couple of weeks ago I got some samples from cardsofwood.com, and I’m super impressed by the quality of the veneer sheets and how beautifully they printed up through our inkjet.

We’re also including a magnet with our save the dates, but I’m hoping to put a little spin on it by embroidering and scanning this pretty pretty. We’ll be scanning it and having business cards made up that we can then slap on some business-card-sized magnets.

I’m super excited with the direction that our save the dates are going and cannot wait to get these finished and in the post to our guests.

great idea to scan the embroidery…. although I would have loved to embroider my intitations haha.. scanning them gets the look without the ridiculous amount of time of actually embroidering them.

A smarter idea than actually MAKING the magnets is to order them from Vistaprint! Theres a deal on living social for a $50 card for $10, it’s under Chatanooga, but since it’s a website anyone can buy it!!!! I’ve ordered my save the dates and am waiting to get my RSVP postcards from them now. Since I just bought the gift card too, I’ll be getting my invitations and enclosure from them too…they’re good!!!

Making your own wedding Save the Date magnets is really popular right now - especially when you can add your own photo. personalized weddings can start from the day you get engaged! very cool.

I had no idea you could run veneer sheets through a home printer. This opens up a world of future possibilities for me! Can’t wait to see your completed Save-the-Dates!

Oh and also, to echo @msatl07, I got my STD magnets off vistaprint. I ended up getting 100 magnets for $24.98 (before shipping) which was cheaper than buying the printable BCard magnets from OfficeMax.
