With This Ring…

February 28th, 2011 @ 4:44 pm by Mrs. Cotton Candy

Mr. Cotton Candy is a classy guy. He has a well-defined personal style and knows what he likes and doesn’t like to wear. When the subject of wedding bands came up, he was adamant that all he wanted was a simple sterling-silver band with no frills. Easy enough. I added it to our long list of things to buy and called it a day. Mr. Cotton Candy’s ring didn’t cross our minds again until a month later when we were window shopping in one of our favorite antique districts in Covina.

While I was eying up a vintage handbag in one of our favorite antique stores, Mr. Cotton Candy’s eye wandered over to the jewelry case and found this:

A simple sterling-silver wedding band! Being vintage, the mister was pretty certain that it would be way too small for his sausage-like fingers, so we were pleasantly surprised when it fit him like a glove. We were completely smitten—so smitten in fact that we neglected to ask for the price prior to the shop owner ringing us up. Imagine our surprise when she told us it only cost 15 bucks! The ring is everything Mr. Cotton Candy had asked for; it’s simple but classic and has a hefty weight to it with all the markings to indicate that it is indeed sterling silver.

And because I love some ring porn, here’s another pic of the ring along with one of my very own e-ring!

Would you consider buying a vintage wedding ring?

I would absolutely buy a vintage ring if I were able to find one that fit all of our criteria! What a great ring you got for your FI & the price tag was great too! My future FI wants a ring exactly like that but we’d prefer it to be in palladium and I actually like a little bit of a milligrain edge, but we shall see down the road.. Congrats!

I love his ring!
FI said he wanted a silver band, but found that he wanted something with some more weight to it. We ended up with a tungsten band.
If I could find something that he loved that was vintage, I would for SURE get it!

I stalked vintage rings as inspiration for the FI before he bought my engagement ring. I love the look and feel of the vintage style.

I have my grandmother’s engagement ring and I am purchasing one, maybe two wedding bands for myself. I like the clustered look. I just wish there was more of a selection! Can’t find anything that really matches the engagement ring, or has emerald stones, so I’ll wear them on the other hand.

In reference to above:
The wedding bands are vintage!

We would get my fiancé a vintage band if we could, but since he works construction, he wants/needs a titanium band though.

If I loved it, there’s no reason why I wouldn’t consider a vintage wedding ring! Your engagement ring is beautiful. :)

I love your engagement ring!!

I absolutely am in LOVE with vintage rings. I wanted an antique engagement ring, but fell in love with a vintage style one from an antique mold that FI and I found.
We are going to be hitting up a bunch of antique stores when looking for our wedding rings though.
Hopefully we find a deal as good as yours!

What a sweet deal! If more people could find vintage at a steal, perhaps they’d be more inclined. Beautiful e-ring, btw.

Gorgeous e-ring, CC! Glad you found a nice vintage ring for your man! I wanted an antique e-ring and we found a local shop that had LOVELY ones from the 1920’s, art deco style. He picked the ring in the end so it would still be a surprise. :) I like to think that it made another couple very happy back in the day, and now it’s making us really happy. Maybe it’ll make a third generation happy in the future too!

Oh, and all the vintage e-rings at the shop were $300-$750 for quality diamonds, white gold that was stunning without rhodium coating, and hand engraving! Vintage rings can be a terrific buy!

Nice! And, I’m not sure if I’ve already said this, but your e-ring is a stunner.
