Mrs. Eggs Benedict, Seattle
Age and Occupation: 29, Attorney
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Attorney
Engagement Date: December 5, 2009
Wedding Date: February 2011
Venue: IslandWood
About Me: I'm a Northwest girl who spends my time goofing around with Mr. Eggs Benedict and our dog, hiking, traveling, drinking wine and planning a wedding that will showcase the best of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer. I also love photography, beating Mr. Eggs Bene at Mario Kart, and watching the most ridiculous natural disaster flicks you can think of (seriously, how can you deny the awesomeness that is The Core or 2012?? That's right, you can't). We are planning our weekend wedding adventure at an environmental educational center, and I can't wait for the fun to begin!
A couple of weekends ago, my mom and I had one of those days that have been all too rare during the past year: a girls’ day where we spent the whole day together with only minimal wedding planning (and no fighting—only laughing!).
I have to say, it was kind of wonderful. And makes me look forward to more days like that after the wedding is over!
We started the day with brunch on the island. After an omelette for Mom and eggs benedict for me (What, I couldn’t resist! It was my first eggs benedict since becoming Miss Eggs Benedict!), we did have to talk a little bit about the wedding. But we kept it light and just went over a couple of checklists of last-minute things we need to do. You know, like the seating arrangements and all of the paper products that I had to finish creating and printing! But then we got to put all of that aside and set off for the bookstore, which was the main purpose of our girls’ day.
See, a girl I went to high school with wrote a book. And not just any book—she and her best-selling author mother wrote a book about how the two of them planned Elizabeth’s wedding.

Mrs. Tartlet, Rochester, MI
Age and Occupation: Age & Occupation: 27, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Medical Student
Engagement Date: May 2, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: The Royal Park Hotel
About Me: I'm an exuberant gal from the Midwest with a penchant for Neuroscience and anything sparkly. I'm not afraid to poke fun at myself, and I'm a believer that given the right pair of shoes, a girl can conquer the world. While an interest in the sciences threw Mr. Tartlet and me together (again, and again, until it finally stuck), we share a love for many things---food, video games, car dancing, food, bad puns, travel, did I mention food?---that ultimately led us to where we are now, less than five months from becoming Mr. and Mrs. We're planning a laid-back, romantic, garden-inspired affair with organic and quirky touches that reflect our love for the unexpected!
I hinted in my previous post that I’ve been experiencing a bit of shoe regret. Although I’m head over heels for the trend of using brightly colored shoes to punch up your wedding day fashion, I’m starting to question pairing my light and airy wedding dress with a bold color. And, because our color palette is filled with soft, romantic hues, I started to consider my options for a more “classic” look.

About Me: I'm a Midwestern girl that can't seem to commit to staying in one place for too long and is constantly daydreaming about my next adventure. I am an aspiring foodie with a weak spot for the unusual and I love semi-reality food television. My other loves easily include laughing as a form of exercise, a book that I can't put down, summer baseball games, espresso with whipped cream, couch potato days and nights with the ridiculous Mr. Bacon, and our two kitties, Lincoln and Sawyer. We're planning a faux-destination wedding for 150 of our closest friends and family in the city we've both adopted as home that has a modern, yet whimsical twist and as many personal touches as we can manage.
I am the reigning king of the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, so when it came time to draft up the guest list, I knew we were going to be in for some rocky waters.
One of the first things I did once we were engaged was draft up a list of all the people I could think of that would be invited to the wedding. It’s pretty much the first step to figure out how big the venue needs to be, how much catering might cost and how much furniture we’d need to rent (tables, chairs, etc). My first list had about 150 people on it, which would put us at around 135 attendees aka perfect!
So, once the venue was booked and we put a deposit with the caterer for 135 people, I sent the list to my mom for any minor additions. I always knew in the back of my mind that Mama Bacon would add some additional family members since Chinese culture pretty much mandates that all family members within a couple generations are invited, but what I wasn’t expecting was an additional FIFTY guests!

Mrs. Crepe, Queens, NY/Nashville, TN
Age and Occupation: 28, Jewelry Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Animation Director
Engagement Date: September 28, 2010
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: A church in downtown Nashville
About Me: I'm a native New Yorker who has always been a DIY kind of girl and loves tackling creative projects while getting the most out of a dollar. I'm marrying my college sweetheart and we love frequenting antique stores, exploring together, and playing with kittens. We're planning a fun, "us" wedding in his hometown---with as many handmade touches as we can pack into a day!
One of the benefits of having the wedding at FIL Crepe’s church is that the ladies who take care of flower arranging there have offered to pitch in and help with the centerpieces. Given the number of projects I want to tackle, being able to hand something off feels amazing. They’ve asked me to email some photos of arrangements that I might like, and I knew exactly what to send them.
Side note: I would like to apologize ahead of time because I’m about to get REAL excited about flowers. I have always been bonkers about them—my first summer job in high school was at a local florist, where I cut stems and dethorned roses. Sometimes I would sit in the freezer with all the flowers, until a customer came in and I would pretend that I was looking for more baby’s breath. Sorry, digressing…

Mrs. Giraffe, Chicago
Age and Occupation: 23, Graphic Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Music Student Teacher
Engagement Date: October 23, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Trinity Lutheran Church & Idlewild Country Club
About Me: Coming from the suburbs of the Windy City, you'll often find me with my foot in my mouth while laughing for no reason or telling bad knock knock jokes. I've been crafty for as long as I can remember, and will DIY something twice over before I have someone do it for me. I'm a semi-awkward, typeface obsessed, design junkie and have been know to break out my dance moves for no reason as well as try my best to be ridiculous at all times. My love of pop culture, wordplay, and graph paper almost rivals my love of Mr. Giraffe (who is just the bee's knees). After a 2.5 year engagement, we're planning a modern-in-disguise traditional wedding, and cannot wait!
Yes, that title is Katy Perry reference, but I had to find something to accurately describe my excitement. Actually, I can’t even find words for my excitement.
You see, I got some big news today hive, big.
To understand this though, I have to give some back story.
See, Daddy G, who is awesome on all accounts, has a very unique job for a living. How unique you ask? Well, it’s a little something like this:

Engagement Date: December 18, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Glendale Lyceum
About Me: I'm a pilgrim soul of a girl with a house full of books and a coffee addiction that could slay Juan Valdez. My life is a whirl of grammar correction, good music, glue-gunning, and two pets named Hazel and Winston Churchill. I'm marrying my high school boyfriend in a formal-ish spring affair, roughly themed: "Elizabeth Bennet crashes a party co-hosted by Jay Gatsby and Cath Kidston, and loves it."
Forgive me, hive. A wedding post just would not flow from mind, to fingers, to keyboard today, on this—the holiday of love. What came out was purple prose about my almost-husband. So, I guess I will post it here, a snippet-y homage to my wedding’s raison d’etre.
Oh my love,
When I think of who you are to me—what you mean in my life—there is one memory that stands out. In all the years that we have been together, for all the memories stacked up in the closets of my mind, I find myself lingering on the worst summer of my life.
It was bad, that summer. The internship was bad, the apartment was bad, and I felt afloat. Anchorless. I fretted about my future constantly, I was up before the sun, and I was home long after it set. I was tired all the time, my young soul grieving for idealism. It was a wet summer; do you remember? I’m not proud of how frequently my tears mingled with the falling rain.

Age and Occupation: 29, Elementary school teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Engineer
Engagement Date: September 6, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: Orange County Performing Arts Center
About Me: Born and raised in Southern California, my fiance and I are marrying in Orange County. We're planning a vintage wedding with a modern twist. I am an elementary school teacher by day and a wedding planner by night. I love reading, blogging, scrapbooking, trying out new DIY projects, buying awesome finds at incredible deals and spending time with friends and family. Trying new restaurants, traveling and shopping also top my hobby list. I'm anxious to share my wedding ideas and planning with the hive!
I hope that you enjoyed the photos from the wedding. The day went by so fast. Before I knew it, the party was ending and it was time to go home! I’ll be honest and tell you that I miss our wedding. I miss the flowers, being drowned in wedding details, researching vendors and spreadsheets galore. I was so happy with how things went and if there WERE any problems, I was completely oblivious because my fantastic vendors and coordinators handled everything. It seemed like it went off without a hitch.
So, now that the wedding (and the recaps) are over, here are my lessons for your day of from the other side. I tend to be the kind of person that is far too prepared for things…probably annoyingly so to others around me. Here are a random assortment of things I was so glad I over-prepared for!
1. Bridal Kit - My makeup artist gave me a touch up kit, but I packed my makeup bag with EVERYTHING in it just in case. I also made these for the bridesmaids and myself:

When Mr. Crepe and I first got engaged, we were faced with two options for the location of the wedding—New York or Nashville. This was a toughy for many reasons, and one of them was that because we went to school in the Northeast, we have many friends who’ve settled in the New York vicinity. However, Mr. Crepe’s father is a pastor and we had always assumed that he would marry us, but this could only work in Tennessee.

Engagement Date: May 8, 2010
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Vandiver Inn
About Me: I’m an East Coast gal born and bred and a suburban brat turned city rat for the last year. Now Mr. Lox and I enjoy walking all kinds of places, having the coolest things around in our backyard, and especially our garage parking. I love gadgets, toys, Ben & Jerry’s Chubby Hubby ice cream, monkeys, and our insane cats. I’m a blonde by birth and a redhead by choice. I’m that girl in the cubicle farm with all the cool toys and the file cabinet covered in magnetic poetry. I still use smiley faces in my emails, whether people like it or not. This is not the first rodeo for Mr. Lox nor me. And together, we are planning an intimate afternoon wedding on a budget we can afford by ourselves.

I get it. The flower balls are technically pomanders too. But I just can’t bring myself to call them that because I am also making these beauties. I am not the first bee to make these, and from the same tutorial, no less. I did, however, take a shortcut Miss Elephant did not. But I’m getting ahead of myself. First, my tutorial!
Honestly, Miss Elephant and I used the same tutorial from the same bride to get ourselves going. What are the odds, right? Here’s the original.
So here’s the deal. Not to cop out or anything…but I can’t really say it better than it’s already been said. So my tutorial is one step: Follow that link. Lame? Probably. But why reinvent the wheel?

Miss Eggs Benedict note: I wrote this post back in the beginning of January to help me stay on track for the final push to the wedding. But I still wanted to share this to let you know what I’ve been doing these last two months before the wedding with regards to fitness and my health.
Oops. It’s been 11 days since my last workout. And it’s only seven weeks until our wedding—the hazards of a wedding not too far after Christmas!
But, I’ve made a couple of decisions that should help me shed a few more pounds before the wedding. I know that it won’t be a lot, but my main goal at this point is toning and feeling good about myself, and I think these will help me reach those two goals.

I have a newfound pet peeve: wedding guests posting pictures on Facebook (or some other public site) without running it by the bride or groom. And this new pet peeve runs counter to my previous position. Before we got engaged and I started paying attention to what is/is not polite, I didn’t think anything of uploading wedding pics. (In fact, I did it as recently as New Year’s Eve 2009.) So what changed my hypocritical mind?

About Me: I’m a city girl at heart who moved to the suburbs a year ago. Now I’m adjusting to life with a front lawn, nosy neighbors, cooking attempts, and making sure the garbage pail is pulled out on time every week! When I’m not traveling, Mr. FT and I enjoy marathon sessions of Law & Order: SVU, snowboarding, photography, spoiling our 3-year old yorkie-poodle Mokka and disagreeing over what music to listen to in the car. We’re planning a small winery wedding while incorporating some cultural elements into the day as a nod to our Chinese backgrounds.
When I took my first dip into social media with sites such as Facebook and Twitter, it was merely a channel to connect with my friends and acquaintances. Little did I know that slowly, my life would be consumed with daily use of aforementioned sites, and at the same time, it became an extremely helpful resource throughout this wedding planning process.
