Mrs. Crepe, Queens, NY/Nashville, TNAge and Occupation: 28, Jewelry DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Animation DirectorEngagement Date: September 28, 2010Wedding Date: May 2011Venue: A church in downtown NashvilleAbout Me: I'm a native New Yorker who has always been a DIY kind of girl and loves tackling creative projects while getting the most out of a dollar. I'm marrying my college sweetheart and we love frequenting antique stores, exploring together, and playing with kittens. We're planning a fun, "us" wedding in his hometown---with as many handmade touches as we can pack into a day!
One evening, as I was about to run out the door, I heard my computer ding. That sound means only one thing: a new email had just popped into my inbox. What did I find? Yes yes yes! It was an email from our amazing Mrs. Penguin. You guys, I was BUGGIN’.
I am so thrilled to be Miss Crepe and excited about sharing our entire process with you!
So why did I choose this unassuming, totally delicious French pancake? It is definitely not because we are fancypants.
It all started in Providence, Rhode Island, where I met Mr. Crepe. We went to school together and almost every weekend, we’d drop by this cute little hole in the wall:
We’re planning an event in downtown Nashville at Mr. Crepe’s family church, filled with handmade touches that I’ll be shipping over from New York. (It’s a destination wedding for me!) Read more…
Mrs. Eggs Benedict, SeattleAge and Occupation: 29, AttorneyFiance's Age and Occupation: 35, AttorneyEngagement Date: December 5, 2009Wedding Date: February 2011Venue: IslandWoodAbout Me: I'm a Northwest girl who spends my time goofing around with Mr. Eggs Benedict and our dog, hiking, traveling, drinking wine and planning a wedding that will showcase the best of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer. I also love photography, beating Mr. Eggs Bene at Mario Kart, and watching the most ridiculous natural disaster flicks you can think of (seriously, how can you deny the awesomeness that is The Core or 2012?? That's right, you can't). We are planning our weekend wedding adventure at an environmental educational center, and I can't wait for the fun to begin!
I can only laugh at how our invitations evolved. When Mr. EB and I first got engaged, my only thoughts about the invitations were that we would of course have them made by someone else because there was no way that I could pull off creating pretty invites for our wedding. I didn’t think I was creative enough or talented enough to do it, so I figured I’d just leave it to someone else. Plus, I wanted letterpress invites, and I don’t own (or have access to) a press.
Ms. Cheetah, Los Angeles/Palm Springs
Age and Occupation: 31, Artist, EducatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, TV FinanceEngagement Date: April 2010Wedding Date: March 2011Venue: The ViceroyAbout Me: I’m a silly, sassy lady with a compulsion to create. I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!
Now that all our guests have their invitations and the RSVPs are rolling in, I can finally reveal the Cheetah invitations. First up, a little teaser to whet your paper appetite:
Mrs. Socks, Southern NJ/Philadelphia, PAAge and Occupation: 23, Web Developer/Marketing SpecialistFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Systems EngineerEngagement Date: September 7, 2009
Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: Ladder 15 RestaurantAbout Me: I am originally from the Midwest, but I love being an East Coast transplant! Mr. Socks and I are foodies and winos to the core---give us a hunk of cheese, some charcuterie and a glass of wine and we could die happy. We have two mischievous Wire Fox Terriers with completely opposite personalities but with a shared love of uprooting anything in our garden. Our backyard garden includes everything from tomatoes and peppers to a fig tree, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries! I love cooking, indie music, and spending time in our wedding city of choice---Philly!
After I finished being a sassy-pants, Mr. Socks and I walked a little more around Old City in Philadelphia to get some more shots of the two of us! We posed on someone’s steps…
Mr. Socks: I am reflecting deeply upon the journey I am about to take with Mrs. Socks. Or I just think that this pose is pretty bad-ass. One of the two.
And as luck would have it, right when we were vogue-ing on this stoop, the resident came home and found a bride and groom in their doorway!
Mrs. Lox, BaltimoreAge and Occupation: 33, Government WorkerFiance's Age and Occupation: 35. IT ConsultantEngagement Date: May 8, 2010Wedding Date: May 2011Venue: Vandiver InnAbout Me: I’m an East Coast gal born and bred and a suburban brat turned city rat for the last year. Now Mr. Lox and I enjoy walking all kinds of places, having the coolest things around in our backyard, and especially our garage parking. I love gadgets, toys, Ben & Jerry’s Chubby Hubby ice cream, monkeys, and our insane cats. I’m a blonde by birth and a redhead by choice. I’m that girl in the cubicle farm with all the cool toys and the file cabinet covered in magnetic poetry. I still use smiley faces in my emails, whether people like it or not. This is not the first rodeo for Mr. Lox nor me. And together, we are planning an intimate afternoon wedding on a budget we can afford by ourselves.
I’m not sure yet if this is serendipity or insanity. Maybe the hive can help me decide?
The other day I was at one of my favorite craft shops (name removed to protect folks in the rest of this post). I shopped and shopped and shopped, and then headed for the checkout lines. When I got there, I was surprised to see one line had a customer just finishing up with no one behind her, and the others were all a few people deep. So I got in the short line smiling at my luck. Well, that and the fact that everything in my cart was on sale so it didn’t matter that I’d forgotten my coupon. Anyhow, the customer in front of me and the girl working the checkout were having a conversation, which I really couldn’t help but eavesdrop in on. Read more…

Mrs. Meerkat, Kalamazoo, MI/Riviera MayaAge and Occupation: 30, Application EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 23, IT ConsultantEngagement Date: July 26, 2008Wedding Date: December 2010Venue: Al Cielo / La LagunaAbout Me: I’m a tech-savvy tomboy with an affinity for hot tea and good sushi. Us Meerkats are just a couple fun lovin’ geeks from Michigan. We love anything having to do with movies, books, video games or technology and we hold a special place in our hearts for our two very spoiled shih-tzus, Wicket and Bravo. We also LOVE to travel. We love it so much it only took us 12 hours after we got engaged to decide to have a destination wedding. We are working our little Meerkat tails off planning a rustic-chic, travel themed destination wedding in the Riviera Maya with a semi-formal, vintage-turned-modern, outdoor at home reception back here in Michigan.
At the same time I was creating our reserved seating signs I decided to also create a couple other signs that I knew we would need. The first thing I thought of was some instructions for our guestbook since it was not a standard “sign your name here”-style.
Each page in our guestbook had a question to help prompt our guests to write down some of their favorite memories of us.
Mrs. Starfish, Boston/NewportAge and Occupation: 25, Operations AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, SalesEngagement Date: October 8, 2008Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: The Atlantic Beach ClubAbout Me: I'm a perfectionist who is a planner at heart. I don't do well with surprises. I love planning, crafting, Newport RI, family and friends, and most importantly, Mr. Starfish---all of which will be big components in our October wedding in our favorite little city by the sea.
Vera Wang is set to launch her beautiful line of affordable dresses at David’s Bridal on February 11th. If only this came out around this time last year. While it’s too late for me to don a Vera Wang, it may have come just in time for other brides-to-be! Read more…
Mrs. Biscuit, Morgantown, WVAge and Occupation: 24, Dental StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Chemist at a pharmaceutical companyEngagement Date: April 2010Wedding Date: July 2011Venue: Catholic Church, Lakeview Golf Resort and SpaAbout Me: I'm an engineer who decided to trek back to my hometown three years ago to become skilled in the arts of drilling and filling. I'm engaged to a pretty awesome guy who tests your assorted benzodiazepines by day and home brews by night. Together we have two fur children, Tsali and Tobias N. Fünkat. I'm a lazy perfectionist and eternal sorority girl who enjoys running, crafting, string cheese, good beer, and bad reality TV. We are planning a Big Fat Italian/Sicilian/Polish wedding filled with DIY details and are expecting 300 +/- 50 guests. Our whimsical summer affair is themed "Alice attends the Mad Hatter Vintage Garden Tea Party in a Ballroom. She Thinks That The Venue is Odd for a Vintage Garden Party, but is Tripping on LSD, so She Doesn't Really Care." Yes, I am the Dickens of themes.
OK, now that you all officially think I’m nutzo, I will elaborate with a delightful back story.
I remember looking at my college acceptances almost 8 years ago (wow, that’s a long time!). I was that crazy girl who applied to 13 schools. While I didn’t get into every school I applied to, I got into enough and had to do some thinking. My parents, however, felt the choice was clear.
Mrs. Hermit Crab, New York, NYAge and Occupation: 24, Youth Director soon to be Grad StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Medical Student - soon to be Surgery ResidentEngagement Date: October 11, 2008Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: New York Botanical GardenAbout Me: I love all things food, books, our furbaby, Rashi, and adventures with my amazing fiance (oh, and saving the world!). This summer I will not only be a bride, but a bridesmaid, officiant, and attendee as well---it's all about weddings in my life right now, full of so many exciting moments and projects. We're planning a fab New York City wedding weekend full of family, love and lots of color!
As I dive into the next set of posts and the wedding kicks off, I am going to include the text from our program. We had a (mostly) traditional (conservative) Jewish wedding, and many of the parts may be unfamiliar. Please feel free to use this text for your own programs, or as a guide to future weddings that you may attend!
Our wedding kicked off officially at 11:30 AM with cocktail hour and a “shmorg” (short for “shmorgasboard” and describes basically tons of stations, buffets and passed hors d’ouerves).
The cocktail hour, and all of our guests arriving!
Mrs. Pain au Chocolat, Wilmington, DEAge and Occupation: 29, RealtorFiance's Age and Occupation: 34, RealtorEngagement Date: November 21, 2009Wedding Date: June 2011Venue: Greenville Country ClubAbout Me: An ENFJ with an artistic streak who loves backgammon, sailing, graphic design, and sleeping in. Travel (near or far), good wine, and tasty food makes my heart sing. I'm a compulsive list-maker who lives to plan and organize. Mr. P and I have lived together for 4 years, all the while renovating our city townhome bit by bit. We're planning a whimsical, Anthropologie-inspired garden wedding in June 2011.
When FMIL visited for Valentine’s Day 2010, she presented me with her mother’s Bride’s Magazine summer issue from 1941. The magazine hadn’t seen the light of day in decades. Sadly, Mr. P’s grandmother passed shortly after our engagement in November 2009. The magazine was found when she and her sister were sorting through her things with their father. And it disappeared soon after—before anyone could look at it! FMIL thought it was gone for good. She asked after it, and her father said he knew where it was and had a plan for it. She chalked it up to forgetfulness. Until…he produced it some months later, explaining he had tucked it away for the new bride (OMG, that’s me) and instructed her to pass it on.

Mrs. Tartlet, Rochester, MIAge and Occupation: Age & Occupation: 27, Post-Doctoral Research FellowFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Medical StudentEngagement Date: May 2, 2009Wedding Date: May 2011Venue: The Royal Park HotelAbout Me: I'm an exuberant gal from the Midwest with a penchant for Neuroscience and anything sparkly. I'm not afraid to poke fun at myself, and I'm a believer that given the right pair of shoes, a girl can conquer the world. While an interest in the sciences threw Mr. Tartlet and me together (again, and again, until it finally stuck), we share a love for many things---food, video games, car dancing, food, bad puns, travel, did I mention food?---that ultimately led us to where we are now, less than five months from becoming Mr. and Mrs. We're planning a laid-back, romantic, garden-inspired affair with organic and quirky touches that reflect our love for the unexpected!
I am florally challenged. I use descriptions like: “that thing with the ruffly petals that has greenish leaves.” I mean, how could you not know what I was talking about? I struggle with transferring a bouquet of flowers from their plastic sleeve to a vase, and usually end up with an arrangement that would make Picasso proud. Mr. Tartlet kindly keeps mum, shakes his head, and proceeds to repair my trip on the failboat (toot toot). Fact: if it’s green, I will kill it.
Mrs. Zebra, Providence, RIAge and Occupation: 24 Marketing/Costume DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 26 Management/Firefighter Engagement Date: December 12, 2008Wedding Date: March 2011Venue: The Providence BiltmoreAbout Me: I'm a small town New England girl with an affinity for procrastination, crossing the proverbial line, and putting her foot in her mouth. I'm a lover of history, all seasons, sewing and Incubus. I design costumes on the side for my old high school's theatre department, which is where I met my sexy man. Our motto for our Big Fat Lebanese/Portuguese/Irish near-300 person wedding is "the more the merrier"! We are marrying in a Catholic ceremony and are hammering out the details of our Victorian-inspired reception.
You see, we had, once-upon-a-time, planned to exchange gifts and letters on our wedding day. I took my job very seriously and thought of the most painfully amazing gift to give Zeb. (Details soon, promise!) Zeb says he’s got a great idea too. Now, his practical side is taking over and he wants to save money by not purchasing each other gifts.
Are wedding gifts that big of a deal? Is this something that I can just throw off the list and not regret… like, say, unique table numbers? Do you cherish the gift that your spouse gave you on your wedding day? Read more…

I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!
