Mrs. Hippo's Picture
Mrs. Hippo, New York City/Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 34, Event Planner for a Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance IT Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Samuel Lynne Galleries and Marc Events About Me: I’m a thirty-something bride living in New York City and planning a modern-ish wedding in Dallas, Texas. I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).

Bachelorette-ing!

March 1st, 2011 @ 5:35 pm by Mrs. Hippo

Dear Hive,

I promise I haven’t completely fallen off the face of the earth! It’s true what they say about the final stretch being busy, but instead of giving you excuses, I figured I’d give you…pictures! I just got back from a trip to Dallas to do a couple of final wedding things, and y’all…this wedding is so happening! This weekend made it all so real, and I am so excited!

The highlight of the weekend was by far the bachelorette party. Now, I had zero idea what my girls had in store for me, but they completely rocked it out! We started the evening by meeting up at House Party E’s, where there was a huge spread of tasty snacks. The girls gifted me a pink boa and “Bride to Be” sash, and the festivities officially began.

How is it that all my friends are gorgeous??!?

The first surprise of the evening… a shower! And not just any shower, a lingerie shower. Bring it!

Now, I have to confess, prior to this shower I had no cute underthings. I mean, cute panties and bras? Absolutely. Sexy lingerie? Not so much. It’s just one of those things that I haven’t made an effort to buy, but now I have something for every night of the honeymoon!

My friends have the best taste!

Everything was SO cute, and each of the eight  ladies got me something completely different. It was awesome!

The next surprise of the evening…limo service! The girls arranged for a stretch limo to pick us up and cart us around all night, which was perfect. Not only did we not have to worry about drinking and driving, but we were all able to be in the same vehicle, instead of spread out in several cars or cabs. It truly made the night so much more fun.

The first stop was dinner at Dallas restaurant Saint Ann. I hadn’t heard of the restaurant before, but it was super cute, had great food and a great vibe. Dallas bees, I highly recommend! We ordered a few appetizers, and then our waiter started handing out champagne glasses. Surprise number three! MOH Sister Hippo, who couldn’t make it to Dallas for the festivities (she has a 4 month old baby), had ordered three bottles of champagne and had them sent to our table! It was an awesome treat and so, so thoughtful!

After dinner, we started Dance Party USA. We hit three different dance clubs/bars and got our groove on. It was so much fun!

We danced until our legs ached, and then headed back to E’s and had a slumber party (or as she would say, a “bunkin’ party”). It was such a fun night, and I can’t believe all the work my friends did to make it so special. I loved every minute of it!

What surprises did your friends plan for your bachelorette party?
