Superheroes Unite!

March 1st, 2011 @ 6:25 pm by Mrs. Elephant

BONK! POW! WHAMM!

Superheroes Unite! : wedding dallas gift ideas menswear Batman batman_

Oh, the visual sound effects of the classic Batman comic and the 1960s TV show starring Adam West. Mr. E grew up reading comic books, and has recently renewed that interest. With this collection slowly beginning to take up space in our guest room (we really need a second bookcase), I thought it would be fun to add in a couple of superhero elements into our wedding day.

I’ve been thinking about a garter for a while and when I found out one of Mr. E’s favorite superheroes was Batman, I quickly ordered this set.

I was tossed between video game or zombie cuff links to gift Mr E on our wedding day, but ended up purchasing a very sweet pair of Superman cuff links instead.

Thank you Etsy, you make shopping so easy! I hope Mr. E will be as excited about these as I am!

How will you work in elements of your groom’s favorite interests?

Ha, that’s awesome! When my dad remarried, the groom’s cake was in the shape of the Batman logo, because he thinks he looks like Michael Keaton!

My friend would DIE over those superman cufflinks.

Also Batman is fantastic and those garters are tickling my nerdiness!

I got a Boston Celtics garter set, also from Etsy, and I’ll be buying him some Celtics cufflinks from Ebay!

I loved the use of the comic book interest via the garter…might have to mull that over even if I am a bit anti-garter. ( Not for other people, just for myself–self-conscious+age+no single women younger than 60 at the wedding=not so sure yet on the garter. Must confess Mr. FM is very pro-garter.)

In addition to his comic book collection (fills his storage unit, closets, book shelves, and growing), Mr. FM is into bike riding, music and skiing.

We are getting married in August, so that knocked out skiing so back to the music and bikes. For centerpieces, my mom and I found these lovely penny farthing planters which I thought would be so cute with hydrangeas and decorated with accent ribbons in our colors. Alas, I looked at the prices and couldn’t figure out how to swing them. On Valentine’s Day, my mom and dad gave us an engagement gift: five candelabras, numerous tea cups and five PENNY FARTHING planters. We were very excited because he really liked how they were bikes but still pretty decorative for our theme.

As for music, our STDs are a “marriage questionnaire” featuring a vintage picture of a man serenading a woman with a ukulele on the front and a picture with us on the inside in the same pose, but a modern twist. (Hopefully, photo session is in a couple of weeks.) One of the questions is “what’s your song?” We are asking for the questionnaires to be returned with answers and pictures of the people from their own weddings or as couples. We will use the answers and pictures as part of our table decorations. Plus, Mr. FM is compiling a CD of favorite songs with linear notes for favors.

Sorry, so long but I’ve really tried to find ways to have his personality at the wedding. It is important to me that he feels the party is just as much about him as it is me. So far, he’s pretty pleased so cross your fingers it all comes together as we envision it.

My fiance is a computer nerd and an electrical engineer and he loves pie. So… we found socks that have electrical circuits on them (and in our wedding colours!), he’s going to have cufflinks made of old keyboard keys http://www.geekware.ca/apple-cufflinks-black-apple-key-p-147.html

and we’re serving apple pie for dessert.

I’m giving my guy the leatherbound Calvin and Hobbes complete set to be delivered to him on the wedding day. I also am getting him a pair of grape bottle cap cufflinks to go with our UP/Vintage theme.

My guy LOVES anything zombie, and lucky me found the perfect zombie cuff links! He also love a certain type of sneaker and so I think that’s what he and the rest of the fellas are wearing!

Oh my gosh! My fiance would DIE if he pulled that off my leg. Where oh where did you get them and for how much? (couldn’t find them on etsy) He’s also a big comic fan and is wearing batman cufflinks. I already bought a garter set in my main wedding color, but for those, I’d buy more.

@ItsPronounced_ABear: I purchased them from the ETSY seller lilbittythings for $25.99. You may want to message them to see if they can make another set :)
