Mrs. Cotton Candy, Riverside, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Field Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Process Server Engagement Date: July 5, 2007 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Riverside Art Museum About Me: I’m a girl in love with her best friend planning a small mid-century modern inspired wedding that’s been a long time coming. I love all things design, sewing, flea markets, and a good book. I’ve been known to swoon over a well-designed chair and often find myself craving a new addition to my chair collection regardless of the lack square footage in our home. About Mrs. Cotton Candy

Ceremony Flair

March 2nd, 2011 @ 9:11 am by Mrs. Cotton Candy

Ceremony decor is not high on our priority list. With our tiny decor budget we have to be strategic with our spending, and dropping a wad of cash to spruce up a space our guests will only be occupying for a short amount of time isn’t practical. I want to make sure that whatever we choose to create for our ceremony can be reused in our reception space and is easy for our coordinator to set up, break down, and move. Sounds like a tall order, right? Well, feast your eyes on these.

I loved this the moment I saw it on Style Me Pretty. White Chiavari chairs topped off with modern geometric pillows—so pretty and so perfect for our wedding.

Thanks to our super star of a coordinator, we were able to squeeze Chiavari chairs into our rental budget, and with a little help from my seamstress mom I’m confident that we’ll be able to crank out 35 of these bad boys to add some flair to our ceremony. So confident, in fact, that as I type this post eight yards of yummy mid-century-modern-tastic Joel Dewberry fabric is on its way to me.

I can’t wait to get started on this project—it combines two of my biggest loves, sewing and fabric, and will help add a little extra something to our ceremony and reception spaces.

Are you creating any decor for your ceremony?

They recently remodeled our ceremony space, and I’m thinking about not doing any decoration at all. It’s outside under a covered area, so there’s already plenty of beauty for people to look at. I love the pillows, though!

I LOVE this idea! Pillows are super easy to make, and the pops of color (and the extra comfort) will go a long way!! How awesome that you’ll have chiavari chairs, too!

lovely! our venue is an amazing manor house, the grounds will be our backdrop. I’d like to do something fancy in the tents, but I am not sure yet.

Love your fabric!

I LOVE your fabric choices, and I like the idea of sprucing up the seating, but that picture confuses me a bit?

Do I lose half of my chair to pillow and sit on the edge? Do I lay the pillow down and sit on top of it? Will it slide around?

Hello Miss Cotton Candy! I love you are finding ways to have all that you want at your wedding despite your tiny decor budget. You mentioned that you have a “super star of a coordinator” who is helping you pull it all together. I am getting married in Orange County and am looking for a good coordinator. Can you let me know his/her name??? Thanks in advance!

That is a fantastic idea! You could also give them away to guests as favors if you wanted. I’m pretty sure I’d want to snag the pillow if I was a guest! ;)

@Mrs. Meerkat: Do it!
@Ms. Stripes: Mom Ccandy wants to give them away but i think we’ll end up keeping some for our home!
@Miss Tartlet: The chiavari chairs make me so happy its kinda sad…
@Paper Rose: dont worry Mr. Ccandy and my mom asked the same thing! our pillows will be smaller so they dont take up the full chair. @Lisamarie: I mentioned in the comments of one of my post before but our coordinator is Amanda with In the Now we’re super happy with her work so far and cant wait to work with her on our wedding day!
@Mrs. Barrettes: My mom had the same idea but im selfish so i dont know how many I’ll be giving up!
