I didn’t just spend my entire weekend in the tattoo artist’s chair. I did some major DIY as well!
My first project was so easy. If you remember way back to October, I posted about my idea to put a bright, patterned fabric square in the middle of each table. On the square, I’ll be putting our mismatched glass vases, some small candles, and our table numbers. Well, I made the squares! Wanna know how? Read my easy DIY instructions:

And that’s that. Done and done. Check it off the list!
The next project was a bit more involved.
I’d decided that, instead of using escort cards, I’d use DIY chalkboards, But I still needed to make the table numbers. Inspired by some table numbers I’d seen in our own Weddingbee Classifieds a few months ago, I set out to do something similar.
(Again, you must forgive me for being a bad blogger and not documenting every single step of these projects with photographs. But I think I captured enough that you’ll get the gist!)
A few months ago, I found, at Goodwill, twelve matching small gold picture frames, still in their boxes. I assume they were overstock from a store. I cut leftover fabric scraps and framed the scraps.
But after I was finished, I realized that I wasn’t crazy about the frames. They were too shiny and it made them look cheap. This warranted a quick trip to A.C. Moore, where I bought not only a can of Rustoleum Metallic spray paint in an antique-y bronze color, but also some wooden numbers.
The spray paint was a success. But the numbers were not. Behold:
See? The frames looked much more burnished and vintage, but those thick wooden numbers just sucked up the paint and looked pretty sad. My solution was ordering some smaller balsa wood numbers from Craft Cuts and waiting a few days for them to arrive.
Once they arrived, I spray painted them with the same Rustoleum paint, let them dry, and then glued them right to the glass of the frames with Elmer’s Stix All glue.
And here are the completed table numbers:

I loooooooove how they turned out! Even though they took a while, it was still an easy project, and it was even sort of fun! The plan is to mismatch the table number with the fabric square, so that there will be two different patterns on each table. Love!
