Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Curzon Hall About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!

Prepare for High Tea, Darlings!

March 3rd, 2011 @ 2:52 pm by Mrs. Jaguar

We haven’t sent out our wedding invitations yet, so I’m not currently expecting anything in the mail, unless it’s bills or junk mail, that is. So I was pretty darned excited to open up the mailbox just the other day and find a letter with my name on it…one that I was really looking forward to receiving!

Oscar-cat is in the background, not to scale.

My mum and maid of honour have been in cahoots for a little while now about planning some sort of a shower together for me, and the invites have officially been sent out. I’m nervous/excited about the event at the same time—but I have to say, so far I’m loving the cute design they came up with!

It looks so much better without the blurred text.

Any invitation with a request of both frocks AND hats sounds brilliant to me! It’s like a little nod to my home away from home, England, where weddings are a great excuse to dress up all fancy and don your best head-wear. We may not be able to do that for our wedding, but now I get an excuse to go shopping for one anyway. Thanks, ladies!

After seeing the invitations, I had to giggle at the following message which fell out of the envelope— wise words from my Maid of Honour:

Duly noted, Miss K. Duly noted.

The shower is at the end of the month, and I must admit, I can’t wait to see what they’ve come up with. I know how much effort has already gone into it and I feel so lucky to have such beautiful women in my life. I don’t have many close girlfriends, so I know the day is going to be casual and intimate, and I couldn’t be happier.

What did you do for your bridal shower/kitchen tea?

Cute shower invite! For my friend’s wedding, all of the ladies gave recipes and compiled them into a book. The bride loved it!

The moms and my local BM are in cahoots but I have no idea what they’re cooking up.

You get to wear HATS! Glorious! I’m so excited to see photos, since (as you can probably tell by my minor freak out) I’m infatuated with statement hats.

I love that you get to wear hats! That sounds like so much fun!
We are not doing showers, but we are getting the ladies together for tea and we have something special for each one of them to thank them for all the things they do for us.

I’m thinking of finding a cute fascinator - need SOME kind of awesome headwear, and all the hats around at the moment are summer ones!

Hats! Lovely!

Giggled at your mention of England and hats, one of my English aunties apparently phoned my mum up and asked if she was going to wear a hat to the wedding. :)

I’m a little worried/sad that I won’t get a shower…. There’s been no mention of one, and I don’t know if I should be asking my BMs/MIL or someone to do something about it…. But that’s a post for another day!

LOVE this!!! My bridal shower was awesome - a honest to goodness surprise thrown by my brides maid and mom. It was wonderful, not a high tea. But!! We had high tea for my bachelorette party! It was perfect!
